-- January 25th: NEW YORK -- First baseman Lucas Duda and suspended reliever Jenrry Mejia have avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to one-year contracts with the New York Mets.


Duda's contract is worth $6,725,000, up from $4.2 million last year, when he hit .244 with 27 homers and 73 RBIs. The agreement was $75,000 above the midpoint between the $7.4 million he had asked for in arbitration and the $5.9 million the Mets had offered.


Mejia settled at $2.47 million, which is a cut from his $2,595,000 salary in 2015. He had asked for $2,595,000 and had been offered $2,345,000.


Mejia was suspended for 80 games on April 11 following a positive test for Stanozolol, then he was banned for an additional 162 games on July 28 after a positive test for Stanozolol and Boldenone. That discipline reduced his earnings to $496,311. --

Shit like that pisses me off. He threw away FOUR AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

The drug he was caught with is not something that you can get by mistake. It is an steroid that must be injected. You can't get it at GNC.

He might be a moron. I don't understand how you get caught once, then get caught a 2nd time while still under suspension (it wasn't officially announced until he came back on the field) and then get caught AGAIN while serving a suspension. How stupid can one person be?

I hope his appeal is declined next year. He doesn't deserve a 4th chance and i don't want him anywhere near the mound ever again. Go back to the dominican ya bum.
