Eric Mangini and Browns fans have something in common: They both don’t want to see Jake Delhomme play again this season.
Colt McCoy gets the call for the rest of the season
Mangini announced Thursday that rookie Colt McCoy would start Sunday against the Bengals and for the remaining three games of the season. McCoy missed three weeks with a high ankle sprain.
It’s not like it was a tough decision. Mangini remarked that McCoy “earned” the job; it’s not just a case of looking towards the future. Despite getting taken late in the third round, McCoy has easily been the most effective quarterback on the roster.
Look for Seneca Wallace to be the No. 2 quarterback Sunday so the team can use him in Wildcat formations. Delhomme may very well have played his last snap in Cleveland.
He’s certainly played his last NFL season with a $7 million salary.
