UPDATE: Well, the Marlins may have the bullpen help they were looking for. According to Krasovic, the Marlins will acquire right-handers Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica from the Padres in exchange for Maybin.

Webb, who turns 25 in February, posted a 2.90 ERA and 44/19 K/BB ratio over 59 innings with the Padres this past season. Acquired from the A’s in the Scott Hairston trade last July, Webb was fifth among MLB relievers in 2010 with a groundball rate of 62.3 percent.

Mujica finally realized his potential after coming over from the Indians in the spring of 2009, posting a 3.80 ERA in 126 appearances over the past two seasons. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 3.62 ERA to go along with a stingy 72/6 K/BB ratio over 69 2/3 innings this past season. He could be the Marlins’ closer next season.
I like the deal for Pads. They have a lot of good relievers so I don't think it's gonna affect them that much. Maybin hasn't really done anything yet in the major leagues but he still has tons of potential. He's only 23.

Unfortunate for the Marlins since Maybin was a big part of the Cabrera deal. Didn't quite turn out the way they wanted to.

Well they just blew up the entire Cabrera trade in 2 days but for good reason, Maybin and Miller have been huge busts.

Ryan Webb is pretty solid. good job for the Marlins getting some pen help

nice trade for San Diego as well.
huge outfield, Maybin will do great patrolling CF
idk about his hitting, but if he plays his cards right, XBH city with his speed and that cavernous OF

Maybin's potential was that of a 5-tool player, the move to San Diego took away one of those 5-tools and decreased his value. He's more of the Jacoby Ellsbury mold CF with less speed than the Curtis Granderson mold CF now.

exactly what I was thinking. The power will go down but if it leads to more XBH and a better OPB, then the Pads won't mind.

exactly what you guys said, Maybin's OBP will definitely go up -- less power numbers, but I was never too impressed with the power potential and always considered him more in terms of potential OBP and speed.

Interesting how this will work out -- definitely gotta look out for the Padres again in 2011.

Lol so the main pieces the Marlins got from us in the deal (Maybin, Miller) for Cabrera, are now gone. Dumbrowski didn't mess that one up at least lol.

Maybin is a bust, Ive seen the kid play over the past 2 years and hes nothing special. In almost 300 AB's he struck out almost 100 times, 92 to be exact. That is just awful, especially considering you are playing with great hitters that are beneficial mentors such as Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, and Coughlan.
