After inking Giancarlo Stanton to a monster deal, the Miami Marlins are now trying to lock up the rest of their young core with long-term extensions.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Marlins made right-hander Jose Fernandez a six-year guaranteed offer worth close to $40 million.

In addition to Fernandez, Heyman notes that the Marlins have also made long-term offers to outfielder Christian Yelich and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria. The team is also expected to make an offer to outfielder Marcell Ozuna sometime this week.

He'll be worth a lot more than that if he pitches how he did at the beginning of last year.
