New York Daily News -
The customary postgame meeting between Garden chairman James Dolan and Isiah Thomas seemed to go on longer than usual late Sunday night in New York. Those sit-downs could be potentially harmful to a head coach. But in this instance, the discussion between Dolan and Isiah Thomas could mean the beginning of the end of Stephon Marbury.

A high-ranking team official told the Daily News that Thomas and Dolan have been in talks in recent days concerning Marbury's future. Knicks brass is considering what options it has to reduce Marbury's role or get rid of him entirely.

A trade is unlikely because Marbury, the team's controversial point guard, is scheduled to earn $42 million over the next two seasons. Dolan's and Thomas' history suggests that they would not rule out negotiating a buyout for Marbury, who then would become a free agent. At the very least, Marbury's minutes could be reduced substantially for as long as he remains on the team.

I dont think he will be traded, but I could see them buying him out. The Knicks are headed in the right direction after getting Randolph from the Blazers and getting rid of Francis. If they could get rid of the rest of their salary hoggers, then they can start to rebuild, which is what they need to do.

I hope he is traded, he's not the PG that the Knicks need. I don't think I see them buying him out, cause that means they won't get anything for him (and teams usually don't like doing that to "star" players), so my guess is they trade him and try to get a PG that can make plays.

Also Marbury missed this mornings practice and he will be replaced by Mardy Collins in the starting line-up tonight.

I think he'll get bought out
teams I think he may go are:
Boston(who wouldnt want to go there? He has a great relationship with KG)
Cleveland (Strongly need a PG; he'd love to play w/ LBJ)
Heat, Lakers (just because every big FA or big name player is always mentioned with these teams; Riles and PJ would definitely set him straight)

just a thought...

Yea but how would they sign him.
He would be a little more expensive than the Vetren's Min.
And Boston used up there MLE didn't they?

Does he play PG? I think so. Anyways, the blazers could use a PG.

Doing what the Sixers did with A.I. may be the only possible option.

yeah
he's at that point in his career where he would possibly take a pay cut to chase a ring
kinda like Malone and Payton did in '04

Orlando could work. New York could get people like Hedo and J.J. Redick, maybe Jameer.

I don't think the MAgic would wnat to get rid of Nelson who is on the rise for an ageing Marbury.

But if Starbury does go to Boston, I will stop watching NBA forever.
