Knicks May Not Have Assets To Trade For Carmelo

The Knicks are believed to be at the top of Carmelo Anthony's list of preferred destinations, but New York may not have the assets to make a deal.

"What do they have?" a source close to the Nuggets told the New York Daily News. "That makes it tough."

Reports have indicated that the Knicks could offer the expiring contract of Eddy Curry, a future first-round pick and Danilo Gallinari.

However, the Knicks may try to sell Denver on Wilson Chandler over Gallinari if they make an offer.

The Nets, Bulls, Rockets and Magic have been mentioned as potential destinations for Anthony as well.

It would be tough to strike a deal with the NYK. Going to be interesting.

I think Wilson Chandler is a good player. He ought to be worth something. It seems like NY is shopping him. Offering him to the Blazers for Rudy, now this.

Honestly I think DubC has a higher cieling then Fernandez, but I would rather see him go for Fernandez then lose him for nothing after this season.

And we dont have to have anything to offer Melo, because everyone knows he wants to be in a top notch market, so he's gonna end up here in FAcy so we can keep Gallo etc...

Carmelo Anthony's wish list could consist of a single destination.

"Melo wants it all," said his friend, indicating that Anthony's desire is to play for the Knicks.

Like many clubs, the Mavericks would naturally have interest in acquiring Anthony but the team reportedly believes that New York is where Anthony intends to wind up.

Without Anthony agreeing to sign an extension with the team to which the Nuggets would trade him -- a rare 'extend-and-trade' scenario -- Denver could have a hard time receiving quality offers in return.

"Carmelo wants the legacy. The fastest way for him to become a transcendent player is to get away from the Lakers (and the Western Conference), lead the Knicks to success, get that endorsement money, and be close to home (on the East Coast)," said a source. "He’s as concerned about his ‘image’ and his ‘profile’ as any player in the NBA. If he can pull this off, he’s right there with LeBron and Kobe."
I think this basically sums it up.

I know the haters are about to ring in, but you already know its destined to happen lol

Tough spot for the Nuggets. They really don't want to lose him for nothing, I think they try to make a trade, at least get something for him. Then depending on where he lands, will determine if he still just becomes a FA in 2011.

Isn't that what they said about Lebron too? Its funny, we finally get away from the Lebron to NY <Censored>, and it comes right back up with Melo. As a Magic fan, I'd love for Melo to come play but I'm not gonna put my hopes and dreams into it. If Melo is serious about winning, he wouldn't go to NY. If he wants to go home and never make it to the finals, go to NY.

Is not us Knicks fans making up the stories, this is all media, what are us fans supposed to do?

Ignore it? No.

Ive been a Knick fan all my life and the last decade or so has been terrible, so your damn right Im gonna put my hopes in it.

And there's no point in taking shots at my team's chance at making the finals in the future, cause they were saying the same thing about your Magic not too long ago....

I trully believe Melo is going to end up with the Knicks. Unlike Lebron who I felt was going to end up somewhere else, Melo has some real ties to New York in many ways as I mentioned a while back about this. And our situation isnt as bad as it used to be, we have Amare now and a team that could very possibly make the playoffs this year. That is definitely a lot better than what we were in the past.
