Smart move on Walton's part. NYK is the shittiest job in the business right now.

Not to hate but what did he do special in GState?

did anyone see a change in game plan when he coached opposed to Kerr?

Serious question

I'd love to have him over Rambis.. But Thibs is the guy you go with.. Except Phil wants to hold on to the outdated triangle "that won him 11 rings"

No reason for Walton to rush things. He's gotta a pretty sweet life in Oakland and once their run is over he'll be the number one sought after coach.

yea hes just trying to save face now. the stubbornness to not give up the triangle and dolan are the reason it'll be hard to find a top tier coach to go there imo

Somebody like Mark Madson or Robert Horry is the future coach of that team.

I mean I understand looking out for friends.. But that's something you do at hourly jobs lol not with an NBA franchise..

Especially one that you don't even know how much longer you'll stay.. He's more invested in proving others wrong that the triangle still works and that the "old NBA" can still prosper then adapting..

Stubborn ass old heads smh

To me it sounds like Walton met with Phil Jackson because he felt it would have been disrespectful to decline a meeting but probably listened to Phil's pitch then told him he was not interested.

it probably is some sturbborness but it's also just the only way he knows. I never really like the idea of hiring a long time coach to run an organization. It can work but coaches and front office execs have different mindsets. Hard to change that.

But if you're a reporter & you tell him that, you're an asshole because you don't have 11 rings and he does so what the hell do you know?

Phil Jackson has become very arrogant or hes always been this way. I read his biography and he seemed like a coach that was very fleixble in his strategy, I mean he worked with the triangle as his main offensive scheme but he allowed variety.

Hire the best coach possible and then use an offensive system that highlights the teams strengths with some triangle elements. Its about evolving with the times and being flexible.

Phil Jackson has decided to coach the Knicks at least for a couple of days.

The Knicks embattled team president is running a clandestine mini-camp this week in New York with a handful of current players, the Daily News has learned. According to a league source, the two practices are being described as a triangle seminar in which Jackson and interim head coach Kurt Rambis will watch film and continue teaching the Knicks an antiquated offense that Jackson is intent on running despite many of the players reluctance to embrace it.

Not every player will attend the camp. It is unclear if Carmelo Anthony, who did not sound pleased following his exit meeting with Jackson last week, will participate. Newly signed Tony Wroten is expected to attend along with rookies Kristaps Porzingis and Jerian Grant as well as Langston Galloway and Jose Calderon.

Afflalos gonna opt out.. Melo will probably waive that trade clause..

And Phil will continue to beat this dead ass horse
