Statement from Buccaneers Co-Chairman Joel Glazer:

"After careful consideration, we informed Lovie that we have decided to make a change. I want to thank Lovie for his hard work and dedication to the Buccaneers during his time here. This decision was difficult on a variety of levels. I am disappointed that we were not more successful these past few seasons, but we are committed to doing what is necessary to give our fans the winning team they deserve. As we move forward, General Manager Jason Licht will oversee the process for finding our next head coach."

so hes done as a head coach for the foreseeable future, no?

Didn't really think he was a good hire a couple years ago, but after going that route, I'm not sure how this is justified now.

From what I hear, they are just waiting to interview a minority coach to satisfy the Rooney Rule before they announce their newest coach

Opposing teams were looking to poach Dirk Koetter, and they loved how he was with Jameis and the rest of the offense. The only way Koetter was to stay was via promotion -- they fired Lovie so they will have Koetter as their new HC

Normally, I don't support firing a coach after two seasons unless he's Greg Schiano bad, but in this case, the Bucs are justified yet again. Lovie's problem is that his schematics are extremely outdated and require far too many perfect-fit pieces. The Tampa 2 is a defense that comes together entirely once in a coach's lifetime and his inability to adjust led to the Bucs being susceptible to the pass. Did he have them playing great run defense? You bet your ass, but this is a passing league.

In the NFL, you are what you are in a sense, but you have to adjust to the times.

Like Bosox said, this has nothing to do with Lovie's coaching ability. It's all about keeping the Coordinator from leaving.

for what it's worth, Tampa's offense went from 30th to 5th, only by gaining a rookie QB

when your team improves from the previous year with a rookie QB, you don't typically fire the head coach.

The Buccs have a ton of talent offensively. I would say it has more to do with that.

A healthy Doug Martin was important as well.

Go to the Giants, Lovie!
i would love that
I'd never be scared of the Giants again!

He's terrible. He's like a lesser version of Kubiak, who's a lesser John Fox. Gets you good regular season results, but can't make a team good enough to win it all.

For their best interest, they should go for Matt Patricia. For my best interest, they can go fuck away from my DC lol

Has anyone other than the Browns even shown interest in him?

I actually like him, and despite my disdain for the Belichick coaching tree, I'd be fine with him. But I think Hue gets the Browns job if he wants it
