Shit is about to get depressing, now that the NBA season is suppose to be starting up...

I'm hearing they may cancel the entire month of November and not just two weeks.

Football lasts until February, College basketball goes into early April and then Baseball starts.. If it takes a full season of being locked out to fix the broken system, I'm fine with it.

The owners are going to meet with themselves soon to figure out which way to head in. Am I the only one who thinks that sounds kind of bad?

Could be bad. Or maybe they will come back and say okay, 49-51 split. Final offer, lets do this.

Which I think the players would have to jump on.

If a deal is done by next week we will probably lose Christmas games and more. Now that is bad.

You mean *isn't right?

Man they seem to have so many issues though. The BRI, then the salary cap...etc.

Hornets first game would be tomorrow night against Milwaukee. Shit makes me sad.

It kind of puts things in perspective, we should be opening the season in a little over 24 hours but instead we only have five players under contract.

yep but the players are just greedy bastards and don't understand what it takes to run a corporation like this.

wait... what?

"You thought you knew about the 2011-2012 NBA regular season. But you had no idea. (Explosion noise.)

The New York Times reports that the NBA will craft an entirely new 2011-2012 schedule once the lockout finally ends, sending the schedule released back in July to the scrap heap.

Whenever the lockout is resolved, the N.B.A. will build a new schedule from scratch, using all arena dates that are still reserved, according to people who are aware of the league's plans. N.B.A. officials declined to discuss the issue Tuesday.

Thus, the decision to formally announce cancellations is an academic exercise, and perhaps a bit of a political theater. The announcements serve as a warning shot to the league's 430-plus players, a reminder that they are losing hundreds of millions of dollars.

NBA can't have matchups like Heat @ Cavs to go unplayed.

Early whispers today are that progress was made, but I found this the most interesting regarding the players:

Chris Broussard: LeBron, Melo and CP3 have decided not to play in World All-Star Classic, sources said. about 10 minutes ago

Alex Kennedy: First, sources close to the talks said there was progress. Now, multiple players pull out of international tour at last second? Interesting. 1 minute ago
and this:

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Two sources -- one on ownership side, one union -- with direct knowledge of latest proposals are encouraged with movement on both sides.

Clearly, the NBA and NBPA made some measure of progress talking quietly over last 48-72 hours leading into bargaining session today in NY.
