Whenever I hear mentions of an in-house replacement, it worries me. Not that I don't trust those guy, but I'd rather have someone from the outside take over. I don't have an exact preference and talks are all over the place.

I agree! Don't really care to have someone in-house take over. I think it's time to go in a new/fresh direction. So far they've interviewed Lloyd McClendon (No thanks) and tonight they interviewed third base coach Tim Wallach from the Dodgers.

I don't know much about Tim Wallach but I see he has one of the qualifications that Dombrowski wants, and that's prior managerial experience, whether it's minors or majors. Plus, Dombrowski knows him from days with the Expos. I trust what the team is doing and that they will choose the right guy as the manager. Just nobody in-house, and not Dusty Baker.

Stay away from Dusty Baker, that's for sure. Cincinnati fans wanted him gone so bad, seemed like every night they were complaining about some decision he made but then again, that's the way it was with Leyland with SOME Tiger fans..

Sadly, I'd hear that every night about Leyland. SOME tend to forget the impact Leyland had as the manager. He is a HUGE reason that the Tigers are competitive, year after year. Those that are happy he is gone, I get it that they want a new voice in there, which tends to help, but if you are happy he's gone because you felt he was holding the team back from their ultimate goal, that's inaccurate.

These people are the same who will be calling for the next manager's head after he makes a mistake... It just seems like they haven't been able to fully play up to their full potential. Unfortunately this year it was because of injuries and the offense falling apart down the stretch, while the bullpen was shaky most of the year. They need to improve the bullpen, that needs to be a focus.

That's the tough part, because I never like to make excuses, but I do fully believe a healthy Miggy, and the Tigers win that series, but things happen like that during the season.

Yes, bullpen and a LF, not in the platoon role, I'd prefer a consistent guy out there, which it could still be Dirks, he just is hard to rely on as a starter.

I'm currently in favor of either Tim Wallach or Tony Lovullo. There isn't a lot out there, but this is definitely a job that has a ton of interest.
