Kari Lehtonen, the club's No. 1 goaltender who is off to a tremendous start, suffered a lower-body injury early in the opening period against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena. Lehtonen went down in a heap after stopping a shot by Derek Morris and was forced to leave the game. He will not return.

Lehtonen, 28, was making his 19th appearance of the season. He is 13-4-1 with a 2.35 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. He was replaced in the game by Andrew Raycroft.

The Stars entered Saturday's action without captain Brenden Morrow (lower body), as well as forward Adam Burish (hand) and defenseman Alex Goligoski (thumb).

Between this and the Hall injury there have been two pretty big losses if either of them turn out to be serious.

Kari Lehtonen will miss a minimum of three weeks because of a pulled groin muscle.
Lehtonen sustained the injury on Saturday. "We got some good news on that front as far as the MRI," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. "It's not a high groin pull or anything; it's kind of a low strain, low pull. Those tend to heal a little better, so we're looking at the three-week mark before he can get going again." Although Lehtonen has been relatively healthy since joining the Dallas Stars, he did deal with groin injuries during his time with the Atlanta Thrashers.
