Lakers are trading Tim Mozgov and D'Angelo Russell to Nets for Brook Lopez and 27th pick Thursday, sources say.

Honestly, this might be a better deal for the Lakers than they'll be given credit for.
They finally don't have to worry about their own pick, so they'll try to be good this year. But that's not even their focus, its 2018 that is.

For next offseason (2018), the Lakers will have $46,625,137 in salaries entering free agency, with cap holds to Julius Randle and Brook Lopez. If they can find someone to take Deng's $18M salary, they're gonna have two max contract spots to put next to Ingram and Lonzo Ball

Russell is good, but he's not the point guard of the future -- Ball is. And if you can get Mozgov's awful contract off the books by moving Russell (note, they JUST extended Clarkson) it's a move you should definitely do. And now you can max out PG13 and another max in 2018

Not at all

Magic didnt like dlo from day one, he wasnt going to stay

They tried to offer him to every lotto team this year and everyone declined

So now they get mozgov off the books, brook who will help em compete and maybe will make the playoffs depending if they pull the trigger on PG early, since they dont have their pick next year

And brook is expiring next summer so that opens the door to throw out to maxes, and thats probably reserved for PG and Lebron

It's just the same old Lakers of the last 4 years, but with a different face. Not willing to commit to actual development, and instead putting all their eggs in free agency, per usual

Lebron is gonna pick the Clippers over the Lakers. He is close to Jerry West and CP3 is like his besf friend. I think CP3 + Lebron team up and either Wade or Melo joins them

Can you imagine how happy Nets fans are about this? A young player with potential that doesn't look like Brook Lopez when playing basketball

Bron wants to win titles, that's not happening with the banana boat squad

Well he's not joining the Warriors so....
There's other ways of getting there, signing with the banana boat would be a concession that he's not winning another
