Boston Globe - Behind the efforts of Ed Roski and Majestic Realty, and with their “shovel-ready’’ proposed $800 million stadium in the City of Industry, Los Angeles leaders are resolute that they are closing in on a team.

“I strongly believe an NFL franchise will play in Los Angeles for the 2011 season,’’ said Majestic vice president John Semcken. “I’ve been working on this for 14 years, and it’s been a long road. I know we’re very, very close.’’

A team would play for two seasons in another stadium, either the Rose Bowl or Coliseum.
Wonder who they are targeting?

One good thing about the Lions being so bad is that no one will ever buy them :]

L.A. doesn't need an NFL team, USC is their NFL team.

I've been to L.A. and the USC fan-base is huge.

If I had to say a team it would be Jacksonville or maybe... Well, now that I think about most teams, even the bad one's have great fan bases.

Oakland, Kansas City, Detroit, all of those teams have good history and a good fan base.

Jacksonville isn't that old and doesn't have a lot of history.

Bills, Jags, niners, raiders, chargers, vikings, rams

i think the niners and raiders are eliminated now
probably the vikings will be too

so Bills, Jags, Chargers, Rams

Rams might be eliminated after they get a new owner or whatever they're doing

so Bills, Jags, Chargers

Bills should stay in Buffalo or go to Toronto

so Jags/Chargers are the two I have left.

would be interesting to see Rams go back to LA -- doubt it with the proposed new owner, though

I think the only real fit, minus I guess the Rams, would be the Jaguars...

Rams have a pretty good fan-base, I don't think that they will be moved.

They are a pretty good base, that's true. That's why right now, especially I guess with the potential new owners or whatever there, the Jags are the only team. They have a tough time filling up that stadium week-in and week-out.

Why not a new expansion team?

I've been to a Jags game before, and I had a hell of a time.

They beat the Bucs when I went back in 2003.

Oh well, I suppose the Jags will at least get an ass-load of media attention out in L.A.

32 teams, to 33? I don't see it happening. They would have to do a lot of re-working on the entire league for that to pass through.

Just put them in the AFC West, not like that division is going anywhere soon.

Then again the NFC West did produce 3-of-4 NFC South teams.

Hopefully it's not the Raiders. They need to stay in Northern Cali. I'd like to see the Rams back in LA.

Rams new owner is a St. Louis fan and has always wanted to own a team in St. Louis, he won't move the team.

No need to move the Rams. I was in a small town called Oran in south-east missouri this summer. People still wear Rams <Censored> all the time.

Like I said before, L.A. has a pro-team, USC.

Those people love USC football, they also have the Lakers, Clippers, UCLA, Dodgers, Angels (?), Kings, Ducks, and that WNBA team.

They don't NEED another pro sports franchise in Los Angeles.
