Although I get what you're saying Stray. And I think the plan all along has been to get that 3rd piece this summer, likely being either Westbrook or Conley.

Imo hello Thibs = goodbye Melo, now that I think is a poor fit. But yeah I agree, coaches that believe in the triangle are very rare, Phil might just have to come down and coach home games himself. And yeah I definitely think they'll make a push at a top PG and they're very unlikely to make a trade for that person but it'd sure help their chances of landing somebody like Conley since they haven't been very successful with the top guys in FA recently

Thibs loves Melo. And Melo has a full NTC so good luck with that theory.

And a trade should be interesting. THey'll only have like $18M in cap space next year. They'd probably have to clear that space with Lopez & Afflalo, and hope to have enough room to max a guy like Conley or Westbrook. I am curious how much more attractive we are with Porzingis.

Didn't know Thibs loves Melo, just to me Melo doesn't seem like a player who'd thrive in his system and working Melo that hard might reduce the number of miles he's got left on those tires. I do think NY is a lot more attractive with Porzingis (especially to point guards) but I think the big question on everybody's mind is if Phil is actually set in NY or just biding his time until he jumps to LA

And I have the same worry about Phil opting out when he can. I think this summer is a big factor. If he gets the piece(s) he wants, he stays. If he fails, he's getting out the first chance he gets.

Westbrook isn't a free agent until next summer.

Rookie Kristaps Porzingis believes Fisher was let go to send a message to the team, writes Marc Berman of The New York Post. Porzingis said players occasionally lost focus and something had to change to make a late-season playoff run. He doesn’t question the decision to give Rambis a shot at turning things around. “They know what they’re doing,’’ he said of Knicks management. “They have a lot of experience. I’m nobody to judge their decisions. I felt guilty for that happening.”
