As an all around player? No he isn't.

He scores, that's it. I don't care how good of a scorer you are, if that's the only thing you do you aren't a great player.

hes a better than above average defender too. i agree that hes pretty much a black hole tho. i dont think of him as an championship caliber number one option either but hes a star player and will always be treated like one.

On that note, I can't take this thread seriously anymore.

whats an average defender in the league these days? im better on defense than most of these guys. he can stay in front of his guy, he can read offenses, and he gets a steal or two often enough.

ever since Woodson took over, Melo has stepped up on Defense big time. I'd say he's above average on D but nothing more.

Nola, hes a good defender when he asserts himself, and as cheato said a great passer. And an above average rebounder for the SF position.

Nobody on this site believes Melo is better then KD, but Im saying in terms of scoring, the variety he has, is more polished then anyone elses. Ive stated before that he's been a 45%fg 38%3pt player all his career which is very similar to Durant, this year is the only year that changed. Thats why Id say he's a better scorer.

If Woody figures it out, and we finally get Melo and Amare to work out the pick and roll between them, then youll see the big 2.

Melo is an awful defender, overrated scorer, and team cancer. No team will ever win or be a serious contender with Carmelo Anthony. He is a black hole on offense, he scores at the peril of his teammates. For Carmelo to be effective it completely hinders the flow of the offense. There is nothing worse than when Carmelo is in a funk and 5 straight possession end in the stupid dribble pull up from 20 feet clanking off the rim as he tries to shoot his way out of a slump. He's an awful player. Awful.

I hate this team. Hate the players. Hate hate hate everything about it. I'd trade rosters/picks/cap with ANY team in the league. Seriously.

I actually picked the Pacers to win the east and face the Spurs in the final. I legitimately root for the Nuggets and Pacers more than I do the Knicks, and I might hop on the Brooklyn bandwagon.

I feel where your coming from, they frustrated the hell outta me to the point I didnt even watch the elimination game.

But Knicks are all I know, cant change that after 23yrs. Ive tried just being a NBA fan, a few years back... didnt work.

Typical bandwagon fan... I will always ride and die with the Knicks. lol

Melo provides no flow to the offense, it all goes through him. Its obvious the way the team is currently constructed they will never be better than a 4th or 5th seed. Mike Woodson even stated that Melo needs to be in a healthier condition for the playoffs. His stamina isnt up to par to what it should be. WTF is that about?

Melo is a great scorer no doubt about it, but with that style of play it will never lead to the ultimate goal unless he changes.

Says the guy who couldn't decide on who he would root for when the Knicks and Mavs played...

It was joke, apparently sarcasm evades you. I like both teams, but a lot more the Knicks because I have rooted for them my whole life.

Why would I switch my allegiance in a regular season game that has no significant meaning? Being a Knicks fan and a bandwagoner will NEVER go hand in hand after the past 13 or so years of futility and atrocious ownership under James Dolan.

Yanks is right, your management will keep the Knicks from ever winning anything significant.

so many Knicks fans that wanted Melo hate him now, and mostly because they had no fucking clue what type of player he was. Actually, I think Yanks was one of the few against the trade if my memory is correct.

Either way, i wanted him and ill stick by it and not act like i know all and i saw this mess coming from a mile away.

I wanted Melo here as well, I thought he would change his game somewhat for the betterment of the team. But that hasnt happened yet. Not to make excuses but the team has also been through a lot the past year. With injuries to Chauncey and Amare in last years playoffs. The signing of Tyson, the resignation of Dantoni, the emergence of Lin, then the injury to Amare and Iman. Its been a lot.

This upcoming year will be make or break in my opinion, we will finally see what this team is made of. No excuses.
