Anyone else see him treating this as motivation? To get traded from your hometown team? And have them choose Jimmy over you?

I've always rooted for Rose's comeback.. No more then ever lol

I love this. I don't care what DRose is, and what he will do in NY. Just seeing him in a Knicks jersey will be fun to watch.

My Bulls better snag some free agents with all this cap. Or else Chicago will go nuts especially if Rose actually can stay on the court and performs.

All I see is $13M cleared next summer by getting rid of Lopez. I'm fine with this.

First reaction is that it's a cheap move for New York but I'm really wondering what's their end game with this. See if he works out, if not you get the cap space after a year? Rose is just a middle of the road player in that he probably has zero potential left to get better and he's not a superstar anymore either, so is this really a long term solution at point guard for them?
I think New York should consider Rose as an expiring contract and not the player. It just seems like so much of a New York thing to do to bring together has beens like Melo, Rose and Dwight and try to contend, which isn't gonna work.

I can see the bets of who's knee gives out first, Melo or Rose

There's a strong possibility Phil Jackson has no idea how poorly Rose has played recently.

I don't mind this trade for either side really. Neither team is really going anywhere soon. Rose is entering a contract year, so I can see him having a strong season and earning a good deal. Bulls get some depth and gain flexibility by losing Rose's salary. Can't imagine Butler is far behind, although simply getting the #3 or #5 pick would be a bad return for him. Bulls really should have traded Gasol when they had the chance, as they will lose him and Noah for nothing now.

Bulls can make a run at Horford and Durant but going to be very hard to get either to sign as the roster still lacks across the board

I like this for Chicago more than I do New York.

I doubt Rose is going to change the fortune of the Knicks franchise, but it's just hilarious to see them already give up on rebuilding. So impatient.

I really think this is about the salary cap space next summer. If they really think they can contend with Melo, Porzingis, Rose & Howard then I might just give up on this team. I'll find a new hobby.

The depth of PG in the NBA, Rose's recent play and injuries, plus him being an expiring had to have his market value pretty low. I would have preferred to hang onto Rolo.

I don't think Chicago needs to rebuild, but they do need to reload. They have a lot of decent depth players, and a star caliber player in Butler. They aren't contenders at this point, but this roster is certainly playoff caliber and should be a top 5 team in the East as is. Cavs, Raptors, Celtics, Heat are better, but no reason the Bulls can't be right behind that tier immediately. Slowly reload via FA over the next 1-2 years. Some of these pieces they acquired today can be moved out to free up more space and hopefully they can add a FA like Conley, Durant, or Horford. Chicago sells itself as a city, but the current FO instills little to no confidence to anybody

I don't really get it. Trading him just to get something in return seems like a short sighted move. They needed a quality big, I guess, but Lopez is just slightly above average on his best day, and he's locked in at 13+ million until 2019. With the cap increase, that will probably be the going rate for any starting caliber player, so I guess it's a wash anyway.

I feel like they would have been better off in the long run by keeping the $21 million expiring deal, and just let Rose walk next year. The Bulls aren't contending for anything more than a back end, one and done playoff spot regardless.
