In a press conference that likely will have begun by the time I press “publish” on this post, former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe will announce that he plans to sue the Vikings as a result of the team’s failure to make public the report of the investigation regarding his claim of homophobic comments and a discriminatory animus against Kluwe when he was cut last year.
“It’s transparently obvious to me that the Vikings are covering up the truth,” Kluwe’s attorney, Clayton Halunen, told KFAN.  “We have no choice but to litigate at this point.  Kluwe willingly cooperated with the Vikings’ investigation — all he ever wanted was for the truth to come out.”
“It’s outrageous to me that the Vikings would choose to hide the facts of the investigation from me and from their fans,” Kluwe added.  “Minnesota Vikings fans are the real losers in this sad affair.  The fans deserve to know that what I said about Priefer and the way the Vikings let me go was the truth.  I was persecuted and then fired for standing up for what I believe in, all because some small-minded, bigoted people think that homophobia is OK in the NFL. It is not OK, and now it seems like we’ll have to go to court to force the Vikings to admit that.”
Going to court will introduce plenty of other angles and complications into the situation, possibly leading to one or more unintended outcomes.  Kluwe presumably understands that.  If doesn’t know it now, he inevitably will.

Yeah, he isn't going to win this.

The player represents the organization with everything he does. Whether its Aaron Hernandez and murder, Aldon Smith and bomb threats, or Josh Gordon and weed, the players make the organizations look poor with their actions if they are apart of the team. Kluwe made the issue, when he was on the team, a big pressing issue, and made sure the media knew about it. The personal beliefs of the team's management should not matter; if they didn't want the non-football related press that was suffocating the team's news, and felt cutting him was worth it, then they should be allowed to. Kluwe is not homosexual, so he can't even really argue it was discriminatory.

This is basically him being "poor" because he didn't properly finance himself, and is trying to get some money because he has no job

It's not about the whole organization, though. It's about a couple of bigots with enough authority to cut him. Priefer and Frazier mishandled the shit out of this, and the investigation that followed after Chris' comments has failed to surface, and that's ridiculous on the part of the organization. All the investigation was supposedly going to do was point fingers at two dudes that aren't even affiliated with the purple anymore. There's no reason it shouldn't be released. The Wilfs apparently approached Kluwe and told him he had their full support on multiple occasions. I'm waiting for one of them to speak up.

There is no room for bigotry in America's Pastime. I'm sorry, but this situation should have been handled differently by the Vikings organization. I hope Kluwe makes some noise.

How does that make any sense? You're essentially saying that because I'm a heterosexual, I have to tolerate bigotry and can't speak up against it. You can be discriminatory toward someone's beliefs, too, not just their sexual orientation.

Only real football players should be able to sue an NFL team as a past employer.  Punters aren't football players.

Dude went in on twitter earlier.

This guy is a fucking idiot.

He used to be just a cool guy who always spoke what was on his mind and was refreshing.  Now he's jumped the shark, is incredibly annoying and full of vitriol.
