Although it probably won't help, a group of the biggest business men in the area met and said that regardless of the Kings staying or not we absolutely need a new sports arena downtown. And they put up the Powerbalance Pavilion signs on the arena finally lol.

Maloofs probably planned the move a long time ago.

^i heard they're going to keep the Anaheim name

If they would move to KC instead, I MIGHT actually watch a basketball game.

Id prefer them to move to KC lol. Does the LA area really need 3 teams?

If they moved back to KC they could be the KC Kings again aha

They should move the Kings to Las Vegas, now that would be an area where a team could thrive.

Doesnt Vegas not have pro teams because of how easy it would be to bet on your own game or something?

Vegas doesn't have any pro teams because no one would show up to games (like the Miami teams) and because the whole feeling everyone gets from the words "Las Vegas" are gambling and the professional sports league don't want to associate themselves with that

it's funny

when they moved to Kansas City, they had to change the "Royals" name because the baseball team had it already. so they went with "Kings" and eventually moved to Sacramento

now they're going to have to change "Kings" because the hockey Kings are already down here

On March 3rd, the United States Patent and Trademark Office received an application by a Nevada corporation seeking exclusive rights to use the name "Los Angeles Royals."

Another application filed the same day reserves the name "Anaheim Royals." The city of Anaheim, which owns the Honda Center, has reportedly insisted that any team playing there carry the city's name.

The web domains losangelesroyals.com and anaheimroyals.com have also been registered within the past three weeks.

A name change would help the team avoid confusion with the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League.

Sacramento attorney Scott Hervey, who also represents the Maloof family, was involved in the trademark applications.

The Kings, who were once called the Kansas City Royals, have played a few games lately in retro uniforms with that nickname.
