16 games for weed but only 2 for knocking your girlfriend unconscious. Fuck Goodell.

And because the ruling came so late he's gonna miss training camp next year too. They really fucked the Browns over with this one.

Well, his DWI didn't help his case, I'm sure.

It's hard for me to have a problem with the ruling.

To be honest, the main problem, for me, isn't that Gordon is suspended, but that this suspension compared to others (i.e. Ray Rice) is ridiculous.

I do think a year is harsh, but whatever.

Each cases are separate and are by rule not allowed to affect each other.

Marijuana punishment by their standards is obviously ridiculous, but the fact that the NFL let this become so public, and waited for FOREVER to come to this conclusion. As Teagz pointed out, he can't even be with the team for training camp next year because of the NFL taking forever to come down with the ruling. Absolute sham.

Could be worse, that absolute sham could have cost you an entire prime year like it did us.

It's impossible to cost the Browns a prime year, because they don't have prime years, but suspending the leagues best receiver for a full year seems like the worst thing that could happen to the Browns

The rules are stupid, but I don't feel bad for him. He knew he was in stage 3 of the program, he shouldn't have been anywhere near pot. He obviously needed to change his lifestyle if he wanted to continue being an NFL player and didn't, the DWI proves that.

That said, apparently he can apply to be reinstated after the calendar NFL year begins, and is unlikely to miss training camp. So them taking this long doesn't affect that.

I don't think I'd call Gordon the leagues best receiver.

I don't feel bad for him either. This effects the Browns much further, as he was obviously a big part of their plans.

I'd also say it's unfair to say some of that, as he passes nearly 100 drug tests in the program, and if his urine cups were switched it never would have gotten to this, so clearly something had changed in terms of marijuana.

The DWI is irrelevant to this. I don't think there is any excuse for a DWI/DUI, but he wasn't in this program for drinking and driving a car. 2 beers will put you over the legal limit. He should have called a cab, but no one ever thinks they're going to get pulled over.

They only left the door open to have him be re-instated early so he doesn't sue the league, which I think/hope he does.

He was definitely the best one in the league last year, and he's only 23. Probably the most physically gifted receiver in the league to go along with great hands and good route running. If not the best, definitely the 2nd best, and still only 23.

Again, it's more than likely the metabolite in second cup tested had decomposed in the time elapsed between confirming the first cup was flagged and the time the second cup was tested. That's why they only look for its presence in the second cup.

Why they don't test both cups at the same time, I don't know.

But we don't know that for certain. It's a discrepancy, and creates doubt, which should have been enough to throw out the positive test.

Myth 12: The level of drug in a specimen stays constant over time.

Truth:

Some drugs and their metabolites degrade over time, some quicker than others, such as THC and morphine. Some drugs are also sensitive to light, such as THC, LSD and mushroom-based drugs. When testing for these drugs, it is important to wrap the specimen in foil so that light exposure is minimized or prevented. Freezing positive specimens for storage minimizes drug degradation.

I'm aware of what you have said, but regardless of what could have caused one test to be over the limit and one to be under, one was still under. It creates doubt. You're dealing with a human's lively hood, just doesn't seem right to me to lay down this suspension with legitimate doubt cast. And an NFL appointed arbitrator deciding his fate is also kind of sketchy, but hey, that's another topic for another day

And yes, I know, he put himself in whatever situation it was for him to even test that high, but that doesn't change my point.
