Astros first baseman Jon Singleton made his much-anticipated MLB debut on Tuesday night at home against the Angels (HOU 7, LAA 2), and it turned out to be quite the auspicious occasion. Here's why ...

Excelsior, young 22-year-old debutante! Oh, and please do note that said clout came with an introductory flourish ...

Bat-flip! Bat, flipped!

Singleton also drew a walk, and as such he's batting a rather tidy .333/.500/1.000 after one game. In related matters, the Astros are a game over .500 since May 1. Regarding those Astros, it might be time to adjust thine expectations upward just a bit.

If he and Springer can bring down those strikeout rates in the next few years, they'll be a terrifying 3-4 combo in the lineup. And in a few years when Correa, Appel and Cosart are up there... jeez.

Baseball America had Singleton listed as the Astros 8th best prospect pre-season... 8th...
