Five seems to be the standard.  Based on recent hirings, at least.

He's a great coach. Old (66), but a great coach. I'm guessing he wanted to give the NBA a try before retiring. I'm sure they'll put assistants around him with a lot of experience. This also puts him closer to his son, who is now the head coach at Niagara.

Interesting move. Think he's got better NBA chops than most college coaches.

for the record, his age and possible stress levels is what makes me think he wont make the duration. i was on board with him coaching the pistons last season when those rumors popped up
