Jim Edmonds has informed the Cardinals that he's retiring, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Edmonds had signed a non-roster contract with the team.

Great player. Always liked watching him play. He's a little guy, but he could get you about 30 homers a year, and 80-100 RBI's. Career 284 hitter. Up until '07 he was consistent on one team. Bounced around a bit in '08 and '10. Great player to have on your team. Weird enough. I was looking up his stats and he has played in 2011 games.

Even though he was a Cardinal, he's always been one of my favorite players and I loved when the Cubs picked him up and what he did for us that season.

One of my favorite players of this era... Probably won't go into the HOF, but I'd really love it if he did.

Really would have been awesome if he had played a bit this year just to get to 400 HR

A great player and an even greater person. This guy could really play some great defense and made some amazing catches in the outfield. Not a HOF'er, but still a very good player.
