Was getting worried about the possibility of him coming back to Arizona

Thank you Dombrowski

I just hope we didn't overpay.

In all honesty, I agree with Mexi on one thing. I think Dodgers have essentially locked up the NL West division. I think the Rockies and D-backs were one year wonders and this deal sets Arizona back from competing for the division.

5 year / 110 million. That's not too bad, better than the 5 / 125 originally offered. He's frontloaded the first two years.

Me too.

I think it's a great deal because he has 2 opt outs after he makes the 50 million.

It's a short term fix for us if need be, and he can DH if we need him too. Time to finally sit Hanley.

Well they've got the lineup to win the AL East for a 3rd year in a row now. Won 93 games last season and they added a guy with splits better than Giancarlo's, dating back to 2015.

Is still be hesitant to say our lineup is better than the Yankees. I see where you are going and I half agree, but I never doubt the Yankees.

I still think Yankees have the best lineup, but likely not best pitching.

Yankees are being overrated because they acquired a guy who hit a lot of home runs last season, but also struck out 163 times.  There's big question marks at all 3 bases in the Bronx.  Bird is still a big "maybe" and we have no idea what to expect from Torres/Andujar and now Drury at 3B.  Go to the bullpen and I'll say this, I don't think its a lock that the Yankees are better.  On paper, sure, but if Thornberg and Carson are healthy, hell no.  Chapman was messy last season and Betances became more inconsistent as the season wore on.  Robertson and Kahnle were the best two arms coming out of the bullpen.

The Yanks have better depth but lineup vs lineup, I lean Red Sox now.

Well there's also no guarantee that Judge and Stanton each hit 50+ homeruns.  Both have only done it one season.  But I'm not doubting it until I see them.

So their line-up with JD could possibly be:

1) Mookie Betts - RF
2) Andrew Benintendi - LF
3) Xander Bogaerts - SS
4) JD Martinez - DH
5) Dustin Pedroia - 2B
6) Mitch Moreland/Hanley Ramirez - 1B
7) Jackie Bradley - CF
8) Rafael Devers - 3B
9) Chirstian Vazquez - C

I am sure that the order is up for debate, but this is a pretty solid line-up from top to bottom, especially if Devers continues to build on a solid rookie season. I know it lacks the "star power" that the Yankees have, but I'd put this line-up up against the Yankees all day long. They really needed JD Martinez. I am glad this deal happened.
