Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will sit out the first half of the Seminoles' game against Clemson Saturday as punishment for yelling "Fuck her right in the pussy" on a table in the middle of campus Tuesday.


 


Via Warchant.com, athletic director Stan Wilcox and interim president Garrett Stokes released a statement on the punishment:

As the university's most visible ambassadors, student-athletes at Florida State are expected to uphold at all times high standards of integrity and behavior that reflect well upon themselves, their families, coaches, teammates, the Department of Athletics and Florida State University. Student-athletes are expected to act in a way that reflects dignity and respect for others.
As a result of his comments yesterday, which were offensive and vulgar, Jameis Winston will undergo internal discipline and will be withheld from competition for the first half of the Clemson game.
The University and athletics department will have no further comment on the matter.

It's about a body of work here for Jameis.  This isn't one thing where we say he is young and stupid.  Incident after incident after incident shows a complete lack of self awareness.  After you get busted for stealing crab legs from a Publix after being accused of rape and somehow survive it all, shouldn't you have some sort of personal code of conduct in your head?  And then there's the fact that money talks, to everyone, even the young and stupid.  The guy is supposed to be a #1 overall NFL one day and he's completely doing everything he can to tarnish his image.  May be costing his family millions of dollars.  If I'm an NFL GM, this guy scares me more than Manziel.  He just doesn't get it, at all.

It was funny but I want my QB to be about business. You can be funny but be funny in a classy and respectful way. He just looks like a jerk. I would like to be friends with him but I wouldn't want him to be QBing my team, and if he was, I would be ashamed.
 
In fact I would sit him for the whole entire game. One half is really nothing. You gotta really do something that sets the tone, no slap on the wrist. Let the boy know he can't be actin a fool all the damn time. Especially on campus. This wouldn't be a big deal, imo, if it was maybe somewhere else, around less people. But it was on campus in front of a bunch of people who all tweeted about it....
