Jake Arrieta has 24 straight quality starts, with a 20-1 record backed by a .86 ERA, .70 WHIP, and a .151 opponent average.

I've seen both of his no-hitters now. Each time he had a messy bullpen warmup to start the game and didn't feel like he had his best stuff. Also, Addison Russell was the only player in the Cubs starting lineup to not record a hit in both no hitters

"July 2, 2013: (arrieta) Traded by the Baltimore Orioles with Pedro Strop and cash to the Chicago Cubs for Steve Clevenger and Scott Feldman."

This deal was so irrelevant at the time and Arrieta sucked then. Seemed like he'd either be out the league or bouncing around in the minors and making spot starts. But damn, what a turnaround he has had in his career.

A lopsided trade like this reminds me of the Red Sox acquiring Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe from the Mariners for Heathcliffe Slocom a number of years back.

Guess the O's should have just let Jake be Jake instead of trying to make him into something he is not.

His control wasn't the best -- 4 walks, but the defense did nicely for him. Also, there were no pressure pitches. The Cubs gave him some runs right away and he could relax and just pitch.
