The #Jaguars are hiring Mike Mularkey, according to a source. Mularkey interviewed today.

Sucks for you kam, he is a terrible choice and the Jags will go nowhere with him

Should have gone with Chudzinski IMO

Wow, I guess we'll see what he does being a Head Coach but I wasn't impressed with him as an offensive coordinator. I'll give him a chance to prove himself though.

I don't mind this for the Jags. Chudzinski would have been good, but I don't think his style would fit Gabbert. Mularkey did pretty good with Ryan, and watching Gabbert at his best (and full potential) is someone a lot like Matt Ryan.

Pete Prisco who must be a Jaguars fan doesn't like the hire, he's on CBSSPORTS. Said Mularkey actually has been holding Ryan back..

I think they'll be fine if they can find a solid offensive coordinator.

Mularkey has proven that he can put together a good offense. He just can't call plays worth a fuck.

Holding Ryan back? IDK about that. Ryan had an impressive year, before the playoffs. I think he's done a fine job developing Ryan up until this point.
I could see the play calling was bad, but other than that I liked what he did with Ryan.

Maybe that's what he was getting at with his play calling, it was holding Ryan back..

Even so, Ryan still under than offense developed into a top 7 QB. I think he could really help Gabbert.

You don't understand how happy I am that he's gone. Have fun kam. Maybe you'll get a few more wins, but dont expect much come playoffs (if you make it). I'm sure he'll groom gabbert to be a better qb than he already is.

Just be praying Bob Bratkowski isn't promoted to offensive coordinator, you don't want that. RUN, RUN, PASS, PUNT.

lolololol they better not promote him
hell, run-run-pass-punt has been the Falcons philosophy for years!
honestly, I think Ryan would work better in a West Coast offense

I will feel very bad for you and the Falcons if he's promoted to OC. By the sounds of it, you are use to that kind of play calling. I haven't really paid attention in the past but Sunday's game was a pretty poorly called game. I thought Bratkowski was calling plays at that time.

I've hated the play calling pretty much all year, especially later in the season
The Falcons are just too predictable. Its pretty much always been Turner Run up the middle for like 2 yards-Turner runs up the middle but gets tackled after a failed cutback- Ryan passes to either Gonzalez or Roddy on a hook or Julio on a slant- punt
Gets so tiring, especially when it fails yet they still continue the same damn things
I really am not sure who did most of the playcalling, I just hope they're gone (hopefully they already are)

Nah, he didn't do terrible. Funny, he was the HC of Bills the last time they had a winning season. He quit the next year because he didn't like the way the team was being ran by the GM and Owner. Also had no QB and the front office wouldn't believe that JP Losman was garbage.

Pete Prisco who must be a Jaguars fan doesn't like the hire, he's on CBSSPORTS. Said Mularkey actually has been holding Ryan back..
Pete Prisco isn't a Jaguar fan, he just lives in Jacksonville. Hes always been one of them people who bash everything so when something does actually go wrong.. he can sit back and say "Well, I told you so".

From what I understand, your boy Matt Ryan has a issue in the playoffs and it isn't the playcalling. Peyton was like this his first couple of years aswell. Team was afraid to throw it down field because they didn't have confidence in Ryan. Its like everything shuts down in the playoffs for him. As to playcalling. Apparently Mike Smith wanted to do the QB sneak and didn't get it.. not Mularkey. It'll be interesting to see how good the Jaguars offense will be and to see how much Mike Smith was handcuffing it.

Overall, Its a solid hire. I'm taking the "Wait and See approach". I think he'll do wonders for the offense but I'm more intersted into who he is going to bring here as the OC. Rumor is it'll be Clyde Christensen. Who is the Colts OC.

I think one of the key things that got Mike Mularkey the HC job was that he really wanted Mel Tucker back as the DC. Which Tucker is in Minny right now interviewing for the DC job there, but hes expected back with the Jaguars. We had alot of players on IR from the defenses side and still was a top 10 defense. Tells alot about the coaching on that side of the ball.

This bodes really well for Gabbert though.
