Reporters asked Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley about the future of Justin Blackmon shortly after the team elected to trade up and select Penn State wide receiver Allen Robinson in the tail end of the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. That selection came just 22 picks after the Jaguars added USC receiver Marqise Lee, creating a new-look receiving corps that might not figure to include Blackmon.

"I was hoping it would be better than where it's going but we'll see," Bradley said of Blackmon. "We haven't heard much and it doesn't sound like it's going in the right direction."

Not exactly the ringing endorsement you want to hear for a player trying to recover from multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy. Facing an indefinite suspension, Caldwell told reporters that the Jaguars have given up hope on the 2012 first round pick returning to the field for the team in 2014.

He's young and can still try and right the ship, get his shit together. Though who knows, he's a real mess.

If he does get his shit together, I have a feeling he'll go through one or two more teams before it happens.

Been happening to plenty of players. Man, so much talent being wasted.

Talent would have been much better used on a chubby kid like myself.

The NFL needs to seriously reconsider it's marijuana policies. No weed violation should result in any kind of lengthy suspension.

Blackmon was originally put in the substance abuse program because of his multiple DUIs, but I agree.

Well, he's only had 1 when he was a Jaguar, right? And one at OK State, IIRC.

Or has he had a second one with Jax, now?

Either way, I think it's a legitimate possibility that some of the players with weed issues might smoke it partly because of the wear and tear on their bodies. The league needs to at least acknowledge that that's possible, imo.

FTR, I don't understand how guys like Blackmon are being made examples of but Aldon Smith has yet to see any real discipline.
