Graham does not want Franchise Tag

Jimmy Graham will be a free agent and he would prefer to sign a long-term deal this offseason.

"I'm not keen on the franchise tag," Graham said after Pro Bowl practice Friday, according to NFL.com. "That would be really unfortunate, but that is really all I have to say about that one."

If the New Orleans Saints decide to use the tag on Graham, it will open up a battle on whether he's a tight end of wide receiver.

The franchise tag last season at wide receiver was $10.5 million, compared to $6 million at tight end.

"Isn't that what we drafted him as? Isn't that what he made the Pro Bowl as?" Mickey Loomis said Tuesday. "That's what we see him as, a tight end. ... That's what makes him valuable."

He's a TE no question in my mind. IDK the Saints cap situation but they need to hang on to Graham. If they'll have more flexibility next year they should tag him and if Jimmy doesn't resign just cause they tagged him this year...well then that would be really unfortunate

He's in no position to act like he's a WR when he often gets stonehands and forgets how to be phyisical. He should focus on how his big ass got shut down so often during the season, not if he's a WR.

If for some reason Jimmy Graham is soooo butthurt about a franchise tag that he won't sign next year then it's good riddance for the Saints IMO. Although if the Saints have the cap flexibility to sign him this year then they def. should

I'm sure he will get the franchise tag, probably complain about it once or twice to the media, but once the season gets here he will be ready to go.
