It was made clear last night that this little game of attracting attention to one's self by rebelling against Admin and Site Rules is D-O-N-E.
Now we have another member that just can't follow the rules and when he's disciplined for it...it's Admin abusing their powers. The Board Rules are posted in the upper right-hand side of this index. If you haven't read them, take the time to do so. Break a rule and then we're talking Warning System. Everyone is held to this standard...everyone. I guess we got away from this for a while but guess what...it was made clear a couple weeks ago that the site was about to be cleaned up a little bit.
We don't need another 5 page thread full of drama & claims about how much of a horrible dictatorship SI has suddenly become. This site has a reputation of being a great sports discussion site that is reliable and well respected. The Administration will stop at nothing to protect this. A group of people with nothing better to do than act like a bunch of kids who just discovered AOL Chat for the first time WILL NOT bring down our reputation.
For every 1 member who complains we are too harsh on rules and threatens to leave the site...there's 3 more who sit back and breath a sigh of relief that the problem-children are being dealt with. It's funny tho...out of all the people who are (apparently) leaving the site, only 1 or 2 actually contributed to the sports discussion anyways. Those couple will be missed, (we are pretty sure they'll come back), but the rest...interchangeable. We've been down this road before at SI. It has been much worse before too.
Life goes on, SI goes on.
