Im just saying, you DO realize how horrendous his contract is, right?

thats all guaranteed money except for 2028. He could get a significant injury next season and never be the close to the same youre still stuck paying him $300M over the next twelve seasons.
Id honestly be shocked if the team that acquires him pays more than 60% of his contract within the trade. Id push for 40%, but wouldnt go higher than 60% if im giving up good talent as well. Thats why I suggested JBJ and eating the whole contract. You get Bradley for one season, and get his compensation pick when he leaves a year after, and you get free of $300M (which looked to me like the Marlins #1 objective as the new ownership, to shed a ton of money)
Youre out of your mind if you thought I meant JBJ = Stanton. Jackies just a solid one year replacement player, with the voided contract being the #1 trade asset
btw in case its not obvious i dont want stanton in boston (at that salary)

Despite his hefty contract, Stanton has more than one suitor. Dont think for a second the Dodgers wont make a run at him, especially considering he prefers to play on the West Coast. All it takes is 2-3 teams willing to negotiate and the asking price goes up. Id also look for the Marlins to package him with another attractive player also. They plan to shed $30M in payroll by trading Stanton, Dee, and Prado.

Stanton could be a bargain with so many players projected to net $30M per salaries come 2018 FA.

Excuse?  you misspelled reason.  The reason I would have IF it happens is the unknown of a rookie manager vs an all time manager is always  >>>>....>>>

Nothing wrong with rooting for Cora.  But a boat was missed and that doesn't mean there is blame there, it's just factual.
All Time Manager!? All time what exactly? Girardi was above average but hes not on some GOAT list. He won one title in 10 years with with the deepest pockets in all of baseball. Farrell won just as many in Boston and he barely knows the rules.

I can part with Benintendi. Honestly, he was just good, never great this past year. He wasn't an Aaron Judge, that's for sure. But Stanton is legit.
Youre ready to trade Benintendi because he didnt have an Aaron Judge like rookie year. Lol, okay. You clearly dont know much about baseball.

Joe is top 30, maybe top 20 all time for me.

Miggy is still a good hitter, I'd just rather have someone who is more athletic. Stanton is more of that figure.

No, I like Benintendi. I have no problem keeping him, but I'd give him up in a heartbeat for Stanton. Stanton can hit homeruns like Judge. That's the point I was trying to make. We need offense.

Yeah I agree. Benintendi will never come close to touching Stanton's numbers. Benny will peak at like 25 to 30 homers.

You guys are nuts to give up a good defensive player with 30-homer potential for a guy who can only hit Homers,
When he’s not striking out.

The worst thing the Red Sox could do is structure an offense that relies so much on Stanton going yard. I know you guys miss Papi but damn...

We're not nuts.  Have you seen our offense?  We have a lot of defensive players who hit less than 30 homeruns.  Where has that gotten us?  You need at least one or two big bats in the lineup.  Give up one of those defensive guys for a guy who can hit 50+ homeruns.  he'll make everyone else in the lineup hit better and we'll actually score runs for a change.  You can only defend so many runs, but you need to score runs to win.  At one point we were last in the league for homeruns.  We don't have that power bat.  We have the best defense in the outfield (arguably)  but we can give a little to get a big bat.

The Red Sox did finish last in MLB in home runs. Either way, dumping a budding star in Benintendi doesn't help. I'd love to see him GTFO the AL East but don't underestimate his power stroke. Benny is the hitter you want near a Stanton in the lineup and not a guy traded for him.  The way I see it, Benny is a younger version of Mookie with the higher ceiling.

IMO the Red Sox fans were spoiled in 2016 with the spike in JBJ, X, and Mookie's power numbers.  It was very predictable each would take a step back in 2017. I remember seeing a spray chart that highlighted the overwhelming number of "just barely" homers the trio hit in 2016.

I still like the Sox' chances of landing Stanton with a package built around Chavis. If anything, Dombrowski will be more aggressive in trying to make it happen. JD Martinez seemed like a great alternative until he linked up with Scott Boras today.
