WALTHAM, Mass. (AP)—Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says there is a strong possibility that Kevin Garnett will miss the whole postseason.

The All-Star forward has missed most of the last two months with a strained right knee. He had been recovering with an eye towards the playoffs, but Rivers said he had to shut Garnett down at practice Thursday morning and “there’s no way” he could play right now.

Rivers said on a radio show that Garnett was frustrated but understood that it was the right thing to do.

The defending NBA champions begin the best-of-seven first round series against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

this might make for a good first round series

the way they kept pushing back his return date

Yeah it was weird how it was scheduled for late March, then to Easter against the Cavs, then against the Wiz and now possibly out. They shouldn't have trouble against the Bulls, we still have Ray-Ray and Pierce, plus Powe and Big Baby are much better. I'd hope he would atleast be able to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

ouch.
i knew when i saw it, it reminded me of Bynum's injury last season.
and the same thing happened. They kept pushing the timetable back and back until they said he'd be good for the playoffs. then they just said forget it, see you next year.

i know what your feeling boston. but i better not here "if we had KG" because y'all got pissed at laker fans last season for saying that with Bynum >.<

Doesn't matter, they'll still win in the first round, maybe not as quickly but they wont lose

"oh you lakers still have Kobe and Pau and Lamar"
(you didnt say that, but i'm just giving an example)

you guys still have Pierce, Ray, and Rondo.

yeah bynum is no KG, not even close, but he's still the Lakers defensive anchor.
and i'm not big big on stats, but KG is averaging 15/8 this season. Bynum was at 14/9 when he got injured last season

With you comparing Bynum with KG, no wonder people got mad. Bynum sucks and wouldnt of made a difference at all.

Without KG, I think the Bulls can take this series to 7 games, but Pierce can take over in Game 7 and get them to the second round. If KG can't play in the second round either, and they play the Magic I'm going to have to give the edge to the Magic because while Perkins is a capable defender, he can't anchor the defense like Garnett. They're nowhere as good without KG as they are with him and it will show.
