As the league scrambles to process the meaning of the union’s decision to decertify, a high-level source with one team tells PFT that the league is preparing for the possibility that free agency could begin soon.

As in at midnight.

Per the source, the league is bracing for the possibility of a ruling from Judge David Doty that would force the doors to remain open, compelling the league to allow player movement and trades as soon as 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Thus, by tomorrow at this time, Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha could (key word . . . “could”) have a new team.

Though no one knows for sure whether that will happen, there’s a fear/belief that it could, and teams are preparing for the possibility.

Holy crap, this could get very interesting.

The 2011 NFL season is no more. Thye NFL is locking out the players, starting at midnight (about a half hour ago), so there will be no season next year and however long it takes them (whoever "them" is...I really dont know anymore) to make an agreement.

I just dont see how this helps anyone. If they really really wanted to keep the season, they would of made shit happen imo....

this just really fucking sucks...

No, the NFL locked out the players. We are in lockout right now
SMFH, you're a fucking idiot.

95% Percent of people knew there was going to be a lockout. It doesn't change anything.

The NFLPA obviously knows they'll get their money in court, thats why they didn't accept the offer the Owners proposed.

The Players can't go a whole year without making money. I know everybody thinks that almost 60% of NFL players are millionaires, but it isn't like that. Maybe less than half are. Michael Huff just spent 25,000 at a strip club the other night. On the players budget. They won't get past July. A deal will be done before September, dumbfuck.

I like him. I read a big article in Sports Illustrated...all about him. Seems like a real good guy.

Don't let the nice guy bullshit fool you. Goodell is a snake. He represents the owners, not the fans or players.

Disagree all you want, but it's true. He'll be around after many of the players today are retired. He's going to try to get what is best for the owners and the long term future of the league.

I agree with the part about the league not the owners. He is the commissioner of the NFL lol. What is he supposed to do??? Not look out for the company's well-being??? And of course he'll be around longer than current players, thats how all commissioners are.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. Goodell does represent the owners. The NFL is an association of teams, not an association of players. That is obviously separate (NFLPA). The teams are owned by the owners (obviously), and the owners are the ones that elect the commissioner.

I never said he isn't looking out for the future of the league.

I'm just saying, he's an ass. Same can be said for the commish in any sport. Rich mother fuckers trying to make other rich mother fuckers even richer.

I'm starting to side with the owners on this, though. Players are provided with transportation, gear, medical expenses, hotels, trainers etc. and still want a 50/50 split on all revenue? What other job can you name where the employees have equal shares in everything with the employers?

Both parties are nothing but greedy fucks though... you can make an argument for either side as to who should receive the blame for this.

I wish I were in a position where I could turn down 3.9 billion dollars.

I might have gone off tangent a bit. Aimless rant over.
