According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are set to sign Larry Fitzgerald to an eight-year, $120 million contract extension that includes close to $50 million guaranteed.
Apparently Fitzgerald is comfortable with new quarterback Kevin Kolb. The guaranteed money is the most ever given to a non-quarterback, and makes Fitzgerald the league's highest-paid receiver. Arguably the game's most physically gifted player, Fitzgerald illustrated just how dominant he truly is in 2010 by putting up his usual ridiculous numbers (90 catches, 1,137 yards and six touchdowns) despite having turnover-machine Derek Anderson and rookie John Skelton throwing him the ball. Still 11 days shy of his 28th birthday, it's not outside the realm of possibility he could remain elite for the duration of his new deal.
god damn lol. but he's definitely worth it

What a freaking contract. Seriously? That's one of the biggest deals I've seen in quite some time. Fitz deserves it if anyone does, and now that he has a decent QB in Kolb, I think his numbers will rise back up to where they were with Kurt Warner. It hurts the bank account, but good move getting him locked up long-term.

As for when Megatron becomes a free agent, I have a bad feeling for Lions fans that he'll actually end up wanting more than what Fitz has gotten in this deal. May sound ridiculous, but I think he's the better receiver between the two.

$15M for a WR? I know Fitz is great, but that's a hefty price to pay for any player, let alone a WR.

8 year contract? Unbelievable. After the Palmer and Smith problems with big contracts, I'm not big on them. I could see a 5 yr contract, but I guess they want to lock him up for the rest of his career, lol. Lets just hope everything goes smoothly for that kind of investment.

I think this is great.

While he did get a very large contract, he's a superstar who decided to re-sign with the small market team that drafted him, rather than leaving for title chances.

This deal is good for the NFL.
