Atlanta general manager Thomas Dimitroff acknowledged in an interview on the team's Web site that the Falcons have decided to trade the rights to their suspended quarterback, Michael Vick.

"With regards to Michael Vick, we've decided to seek a trade of his contractual rights to another NFL club," Dimitroff said in a Q & A with AtlantaFalcons.com. "We took a number of steps in the 2008 season, including using our first pick to draft a quarterback. We feel a trade is the best move for the Falcons, and it's also in the best interest of Michael.

"This has been a really unique situation from a variety of standpoints and because we will actively be involved in a trade situation, I don't envision our organization speaking any more about this subject publicly until it's reached a resolution."

Vick is serving a 23-month sentence at the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kan., for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy. He is scheduled for release July 20 but could serve the last few months of his term at a halfway house in Newport News, Va., his hometown.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

The contract is a huge risk but ....... on the + side they can offer him a restructured contract

and at the moment because no one is sure of when he gets out of jail we all know he's geting released form jail in july but what if he goes back to jail
( because some have tended to have forgoten about virginia trial )

but say he dosnt frist off at times roger goodell can be a bit of a jack ass so will he be willing reinstate him ? because vick does have 3 strikes on him football wise
( hes lied about the dog fighting Gambling and reckless endangerment to animals + more things aswell)
But lets say he wont get any time form the Virginia case and is back for the upcomeing season(About a 20% chance this happend i know that to be true also)

if he does get back some teams do need him ie the jets 49ers vikings lions and maybe more but hes been doing alot of weight lifting in jail so is his body still athletic enough arm strength and Power wise to throw the ball or due to the increased muscle size form all the working out will he need to change to a new postion ie rb wide reciver

the real question is will they want to take the Public Relation hit form the fans do you really think with vicks curent image fans will line up to see him no you've read all over and over the internet the bashing of him so the team that picks him it will take a hell of a risk you go form amazing football player to dog fighting convict its hard to come back form all that

but he really does deserve a 2nd chance and a shot at redemption but its to many haters and far to few vick fans left for any one to take a shot on picking him up they dont want to lose money via ticket sales for throwing a ex convict in to play quater back
but me as a vick fan hope he will make it back and end up haveing a decent career he cant change the mistakes hes made in the past and wont be forgiven by alot of people but i hope he gets a shot .

ive been a proud vick fan since college and im still am and still intend be one.

Roger Goodell wouldnt be a bit of a Jack ass for not reinstating Vick. He would be smart for not doing this. Like you said 3 strike your out. The way it is in life. Then the image of the NFL, Pac man is starting to knock it down the NFL needs to start bring it back up. For the 2 chance how about all the other inmates he was locked up with should they have a 2 chance and get a contract in the NFL also. NO!

How do you explain Adam Jones? He has like 28 and a half strikes, and he is still around.

I usually believe in the 3 strikes thing, but not when one of those strikes is murder

Vick will be reinstated once he finishes his sentence and begins doing his b*tchwork for PETA. What Vick did was a horrible thing for a human being to do...but honestly...it isn't the worst thing a pro athlete has ever done.

I honestly don't think Vick would of spent 1 day in jail if it was just dog fighting. The system really locked him up bc of all the money that went in and out of that dog fighting ring that the Govt didn't know about.

Excuse me? That's how life is? So you're going to tell me if you did what Vick did and went to prison, your boss would just hold onto your job for you and welcome you back with open arms? If that's the case can I come live in your world?

Exactly. Vick took a life. Many lives. Just because they weren't people doesn't mean it's any less disturbing.

Way to try and validate it. I suppose we ought not lock up rapists either, because hey...it's not the WORST thing someone could do. They could murder them. He broke the law. He committed a felony. In two states. I don't care where it ranks on your "Justice Scale" or "Crime Meter."

The system locked him up because of what he did, not who he was. Get your facts straight. Google illegal dog fighting and see that MANY people get locked up, and many of them get locked up far longer than Vick did. If anything, he got off easy because of his name.

You see, that is why i became a Mike Vick Supporter, people who protest and complain about him killing dogs. Now that is ridiculous! They are freakin Animals! If it was a person he had killed, he would have just gone to jail and that would have been it, but no it was dogs, so it is a whole lot worse right? Man wtf? I mean you have protesters and crap like that for what? Stupid Dogs? would there have been any if it were a human? Uh.....No! Thats exactly why i hate dogs now, more than i used to. People need to learn that what he did wasn't as bad as they think it is. and He should have never gone to jail.

Anyways, I wouldn;t mind the Boys getting Vick....

he was profiting from an ILLEGAL gambling ring - whether it was dogs, birds, or whatever. The gambling ring as well as the persecution of animals is what he did wrong. Then he LIED about his involement, which is perjury.

He's a CRIMINAL - not matter what the severity of the crime is

Dogs, in a sense, are more helpless than humans are, and thus killing them is more of a chicken<Censored> thing to do.

Actually we are mammals, just like dogs, chickens, and so on. And IDK if you have a dog, but I doubt you do with your ignorance you showed there, they're more then just dogs. They have a personality, they have the same given rights as you do to live.

And wtf do you mean that dogs wouldn't be around if it weren't for us. That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read

I know we are mammals aswell, but we are humans and a hell of a lot morei mportant than freakin Dogs.

And, no i don't have a dog, i jyst finished explaining that i hate dogs, and the Michael Vick thing made me hate them even more. And where in the world did you get that i said that dogs wouldn;t be here if it werent for us? I never said that lol

edit: oh i see what you mean, you missunderstood what i said, what i ment was that there wouldn;t have been any protesters or so many people involved in wanting to put Vick to Death if it was a human who had been the victim. If it were a Human, Vick would have just been put in jail, and of course there would be a lot surrounding that but no where near what the drama that actually happened. And thats what pisses me off. People being dumb and wanting him to serve life sentences and such for killing of an animal.
