Seems to turn out to be a complete failure.

See a list of relievers: Andrew Bailey, Eric GAGne, Mark Melancon. I'm beginning to wonder if Kimbrel follows suit.

Then there's Julio Lugo, Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez, Rick Porcello. I bet I could name more. I hope David Price isn't going down this path, but I see it highly likeable.

The Red Sox are so bad at making trades and wasting money that it's not even funny.

Not really fair.

Kimbrel has had an amazing career, still early.

Price has had an amazing career, still early.

Panda and Hanley were debatable, but we're productive.

Porcello...well that contract was dumb, but we knew what we were getting.

If you are going into recent history, don't forget

Tim Wakefield -- signed as a free agent in 1995 for 175,000 (played 17 seasons with the Sox in a number of roles)
Manny Ramirez -- signed as a free agent in 2001 for 13,000,000 (say what you will about him,. he still had a .999 OPS in 8 years with the Sox)
David Ortiz -- signed as a free agent in 2003 for $1,250,000 (in his 14th season with the Sox)
Koji Uehara -- signed as a free agent in 2013 for 4,250,000

And some trades not to forget:

Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe for Heathcliffe Slocum in 1997
Josh Beckett & Mike Lowell for Hanley Ramirez and Anibel Sanchez in 2005

Well, like I said, Price and Kimbrel MAY be heading down there, but that's not for sure. I think Price will pan out, but he looks really bad right now.

I will say though, the Yankees have their fair share as well: Alex Roidriguez, CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett. I don't think the Ellsbury deal was that great either.
