Eric Bledsoe, Suns Relationship On "Express Lane To Being Ruined"

An article on csnnw.com quoted a source saying that there has been an "ominous development" in the Suns-Bledsoe negotiations, and that the sides remain "very far apart." There is nothing necessarily new about those comments after Bledsoe, a restricted free agent, went four weeks without signing an offer sheet and entered talks seeking a five-year, $84 million contract to the Suns' initial offer for a four-year, $48 million deal.

What is different is that the source also told csnnw.com that the "relationship is on the express lane to being ruined." The article reports that Bledsoe and his representatives are "angered" because the Suns have attempted to "undermine" his market value.

You start maxing guys like this and it's going to avalanche until any borderline key piece can demand way too much money.

Because guys like Gordon Hayward, Chandler Parsons and Roy Hibbert have already gotten deals similar to this.  
 
This isn't going to change until the NBA kills the max contract.

Weren't those all restricted FA offers, though? I know Bledsoe is a RFA, too, but was there even an offer placed for him?

There wasn't. Which is surprising.

Did we all overrate him? Does his asking price outweigh his production so much that teams haven't even bothered to go after him?

Teams assumed he'd be matched, and now that he won't, teams have already used their cap space

I thought that at first. But teams knew Utah would match Hayward, but that didn't stop him from getting a offer.

In the eyes of most, Hayward was less likely to be matched than Bledsoe.
 
Jazz had Burke, Burks, and Exum, while Phoenix had Dragic. Phoenix needed another guard, the Jazz could afford losing Hayward technically.

Hayward was always getting matched, no matter the offer. I said it throughout the season, but the guy is a god up there.

I think Bledsoe's injury scared alot of potential suitors.  That's why I think there hasn't been an offer anywhere other then with the Suns.
