As John McClain of NFL Network is reporting, Texans S Ed Reed was cut by the team today. He is being placed thru waivers. The team that claims him will take on Reed's +400K that remains on his contract

They're probably just cutting him to let him try to sign on with a contender. I dunno.

Jerry! We don't have the cap room but at least we could deactivate Jeff Heath.

He'll get picked up somewhere. He's Ed Reed for 400K. I hate to be a homer...but maybe Cincy? We got Cap Room for days...

According to PFF he's been terrible.

I really doubt anyone claims him.

ed reed for $400k still isnt a shell of his former self and hes probably not worth an active roster spot on most teams.

Could see him just signing a one-day contract with the Ravens and retiring tbh.

Reed has become somewhat of a "lockeroom cancer" in the past few seasons.  He beefed with Harbaugh the last couple of seasons but the Ravens just won the Super Bowl so who wouldn't thunk it?  He was very critical of Houston's coaching this past weekend so.....

That, plus he was basically only playing in Dime packages for the Texans' anyways.

Someone will pick him up, and just ride out the rest of the season with him, and that will be it for hm. I was surprised that he decided to play another year. I figured he would retire when Ray Ray did.

He's still better than any player currently in the redskins secondary.

Yeah he's a shell of himself but someone will take him on. I wouldn't mind him.

Imagine Rob Ryan's defense with a roaming free safety.

New Orleans needs to consider this. Just as an experiment.

I like our safety play as is.

I agree. It's just fine, but why not see what happens when you add a turnover waiting to happen?
