A report from Chris Sheridan on Monday indicated that Dwight Howard has expanded his list of teams to include the Clippers.

But RealGM's Jarrod Rudolph has been told that Howard's interest in the Clippers is false. The trio of teams initially reported, the Nets, Lakers and Mavericks, have not changed, according to Rudolph.

I am a huge Clippers fan and to me it makes perfect sense. Although I have not worked out the financial specifics in my head the Clippers could easily offer the Magic just about as good a offer as any other NBA team. I believe you start by dealing Mo Williams to a contending team for a draft pick and a filler, off the top the Lakers. Although the pick would be in the mid to low 20's it still is a valuable asset. You then package the pick, Deondre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe for Dwight Howard. Magic is getting a up and coming center who is locked in for the next few years at a manageable rate, a potential starting point guard that could even be an all start if given the chance who is still locked in his rookie deal as well as a first round draft pick.

The Clippers on the other hand would now be throwing the most dangerous starting lineup in the NBA on the court on a nightly basis. Granted the bench would be depleted and in would be a must to take a shot on some vets looking for jobs a la Gilbert Arenas, Kenyon Martin if he gets clearance from China or maybe even a guy like Sheed if he is back in playing shape but WOW...would be amazing.

Seems worth it to me, just do not know why it is not talked of or mentioned. Clippers made the move for Paul it would only seem logical they would try and pry Howard from the Magic.
I love how delusional some people are lol

The Magic have become more brazen in their belief they should roll the dice, allowing Dwight Howard to become a free agent this summer, where he can choose to leave -- at a very significant reduction in guaranteed money.

"He can still walk," Magic general manager Otis Smith said Friday afternoon. "But with a $30 million haircut."

To stay in Orlando, under terms of the new collective bargaining agreement, Howard can sign a five-year deal worth $110 million. To play anywhere else – unless he is traded there first – it will be four years and $80.5 million.

Privately, the Magic understand where a trade for Bynum leaves them: out of the playoffs, out of relevance.

I think the Magic should try getting Deron...sure they have little to no assests, but still at least try.

Offer to pay for their gatorade for a few years or something.

the orlando magic are 11-4 and 2nd in the east. Ryan and Hedo are playing very well right now and if this continues the Magic arent going to trade Dwight. They will take their chances with him which is reasonable if they prove that they can continue to win games.

Dwight Howard might be interested in signing with the Celtics this summer.

“Always. Always,” Howard said. “I’d always listen to a team like that.”

Howard said his primary goal is to win a championship.

“My thing is I want to win,” Howard said. “It’s not something like I’m doing this for money. I win. I want to do it my way.

“The first thing is basketball. I want to win a championship, and it takes a certain type of team to win a championship. You know, there’s a lot of teams who are great during the regular season. They play well, but it’s different once you play in those playoffs, you know? It’s gut-check time.

“Like I told the Magic, I just want to win. I don’t want a team that doesn’t know how you have to win in the playoffs. I want a team that’s going to go out every night and forget about stats, forget about who scores the most points or who is the fan favorite. Just go out and play, play for each other and play to win. That’s the only thing.”

Magic star Dwight Howard says if his teammates should stay home or in the lockeroom if they don’t want to play hard.

Howard was frustrated and disgusted with his team’s play after a 93-67 loss to the hapless New Orleans Hornets on Friday night, the Magic’s third loss in four games.

“Looked like guys didn’t want to play,” he said. “I told them at halftime, if you don’t want to play, just stay in the lockerroom. It doesn’t make sense for a teams we should beat to just demolish us.

“You bring everything down,” Howard said, referring to a player who isn’t playing with heart and soul.

“It hurts me to get out there and play your hardest. I expect everybody to play the same. I’m not calling anybody out by no means because we all have to get better … but if you don’t want to be out there, don’t dress up.

“If you don’t want to play, stay home. People work too hard. I want to win a championship. I work too hard every night for anybody to not want to go out there and play hard. … None of the — whatever, trade stuff — none of that stuff matters. Play basketball. That’s why we all get paid to do this, because we love the game and it’s basketball, so why not give it your all.”

This looks like Deron is speaking through Broussard:

Chris_Broussard: My column on espn.com. Time for D12 to stop tiptoeing around topic and force trade to NJ http://t.co/tA5uDUgI/blockquote>
It’s time for Dwight Howard to stop worrying about LeBron James’ public fall from grace; about how “The Chosen One” went from being America’s most beloved athlete to perhaps its most disliked. Howard’s dance with the Orlando Magic appears to be more about public relations maneuvers rather than basketball.

Like a cat burglar, Howard continues to tiptoe around all the trade scenarios surrounding him because he doesn’t want to suffer the kind of public backlash that hit James in 2010. Howard, like Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony before him, believes if he definitively states he wants to leave his current team, he’ll be painted as a villain, as a hater of the Magic. Howard doesn’t want to be seen, as Joakim Noah said, “Hollywood as hell.”

But Howard should realize that departing Orlando won’t leave him as scorned as James simply because everything is magnified when it comes to James. Because James is basketball’s biggest superstar since Michael Jordan — on and off the court — his positives are more celebrated and his negatives more scrutinized. “Melo” and “CP3” put Denver and New Orleans through much more uncertainty and made more of a mess than James ever did, yet both suffered only a fraction of the criticism. In fact, outside of Denver and New Orleans, their relocations were celebrated.

Howard shouldn’t worry. An exit from Orlando to a larger city probably won’t hurt his brand. That being the case, it’s time to end the charade. Howard needs to force a trade to the New Jersey Nets.

It doesn't matter what Dwight does, when Orlando finally trades him Orlando will never look at him the same way.

But the biggest impediment to a Lakers deal isn't related to the trade rules -- it's overcoming the resistance on the part of both teams. Magic owner Rick DeVos has been reluctant to allow his team to lose a second franchise center to the Lakers (after Shaquille O'Neal in 1996), and the Lakers don't want to pay such a steep price for what could amount to less than a season of Howard's services. A source close to the negotiations says Howard's representatives warned the Lakers that Howard would opt out of his contract and test the free-agent market next summer -- which has the Lakers' brass understandably nervous.

I mean, if Kobe wasn't 33 then sure. But he's not getting any younger.

So would it be smart for Dwight to go to the Lakers and have idk, 2 or 3 seasons with Kobe and then be stuck in possibly a worse situation than he is in right now?

When Dwight Howard first demanded a trade in December, the Orlando Magic gave him permission to speak with the New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers. While Howard dodges all questions related to his future, it seems that the 26-year-old is zeroing in on the Nets.

The Lakers have already been informed that Howard won’t sign a long-term deal in Los Angeles, according to sources close to the situation. If the Lakers were to trade for Howard, he would opt out and test free agency. Howard’s interest in Los Angeles has always been overstated, mainly because he doesn’t want to follow in Shaquille O’Neal’s footsteps and he doesn’t want to go through another rebuilding process anytime soon. With Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol is their thirties, Howard would be reaching his prime just as his All-Star teammates are declining.

Multiple sources believe Howard will force his way to the Nets and he certainly has leverage, just like Carmelo Anthony had last year when he would only agree to sign an extension with the New York Knicks. Howard wants to team up with Deron Williams, loves the idea of playing in Brooklyn and knows that the front office will involve him in the decision-making process.
