The Dodgers have reached an agreement to be sold to Magic Johnson's bidding group, according to a baseball source. See http://dodgers.com.

For a guy who was going bankrupt, McCourt is about to bring in some serious dough.

Why would Magic fire him? I can't imagine he's some Baseball aficionado who realizes how bad he's been.

Stan Kasten is also part of Magic's group
he's been Prez of the Hawks, Braves and Nats

and usually all new owners get rid of the staff to get their own guys in. i know McCourt got rid of Paul DePodesta after I freaking season > _>

million other examples across sports

If Cole Hamels hits the open market and the Yankees don't manage to sign him, I will be beyond pissed. That change-up is going to carry him until he's 40.

The Phillies won't let him go.

Maybe.

phils have so much money tied up
they still have to extend victorino(one would think)

i think hamels will reach free agency. if he does, all bets are off

Dodgers will be attractive though. stay in the NL, go to an easier division close to your home. seems like a no brainer to me

People are acting like the Dodgers were the Pirates under McCourt. He was broke but the Dodgers were at least competitive at times.

we were only competitive in 2008/2009 because of manny. we lucked into Manny
Boston didnt want him, and the dodgers were the only team willing to take him
it also took a 9 game losing streak by the Dbacks in September that year to allow us in the playoffs. they choked

2009 was a pretty good team though

still, look at all the good players we missed on. we traded carlos santana because mccourt didnt want to pay Blake's 2M salary
we missed on CC and Lee and Halladay and Oswalt
so on and so on

past 2 years have been a disaster. we're starting Mark Ellis, AJ Ellis, and Juan Rivera man

You're not the only team to strikeout on all of them... And certainly not the best organization to do so either. Don't be greedy.

honestly, all i want is Ned Colletti gone
everything else the new group does is gravy.
Ned is so terrible though

look at just this year. overpaying for Rivera. giving Adam Kennedy guaranteed money. giving Hairston his biggest contract ever. blocking our young pitchers with 2 year deals for Capuano and Harang. both backloaded. gave uribe 3 years last offseason

fucking hate him

not all of them
but at least 3 of those guys were attainable.
CC wanted to be a Dodger. I know the Yankees gave him a deal too good to refuse, but he didnt even get an offer from us. Oswalt and Lee could have been ours midseason. we just couldnt pay for them. what a disgrace for a big market team
