Some solid PGs have been getting scooped up for cheap this off-season.

still don't like what we're doing and i dont think dj is more than a spot start/backup point guard.

Detroit gave Caron Butler $4.5M a season.
this makes the offseason even worse. only good thing is it's a team option. he could even be used as trade bait, maybe that's what it was for because im baffled by the signing.

I really like the DJ signing. Probably just for a backup role, but I think that is a bargain of a contract. Will be a nice addition off the bench. Also means Bynum is pretty much gone, which is great news lol.

As for Caron, don't mind it either. Gives us a decent veteran, always like him as a player too even though he's well over the hill. Essentially a 1 year deal if we want it to be, so no biggie.

Both shot well from 3 last year too, so that's a plus.

Also Siva's contract became guaranteed the other day. So Bynum is definitely gone.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think we have until the 20th. But I still think Siva makes the roster, and Bynum is gone. Though I guess if Dinwiddie is healthy enough, Bynum and Siva will be gone. No point having 4 points.

Some sort of trade has to be on the way, probably small. Fingers crossed for big ;)

No way Augustin keeps playing like he did in Chicago.

He doesn't suck, but he certainly won't play the way he did in Chicago. I agree there.

I don't think it is that hard to grip.
Stan wanted shooters: Martin, Meeks, Butler, Augustin
He also wanted vets, who've played on winning teams: Butler/Augustin
We actually have a semi-decent bench, which hasn't been the case since the Saunders days here.

Is it a super sexy off-season? Absolutely not. But Stan obviously wants to establish an identity here, which is something we haven't had whatsoever the last few years.
Do I wish we'd of went after a Parsons or Lance? Well yeah. But what we did makes pretty clear sense to me. Filled out the roster with solid players/shooters on reasonable contracts. Don't see what is not to get lol. I'm pretty sure we were dead last in the league in 3PT shooting last year.

Also the off-season isn't over yet, still holding out hope that Josh is gone.

I didn't mind the Jodie Meeks signing except for the fact that they overpaid.

I guess I'm just waiting to see if/when they make a move regarding Smith or Monroe

I get the idea that they're just spending for the sake of spending. He wants shooters, he wants vets, etc etc etc. Why do you have to get it all now? What's the rush? Why do you have to overpay for the majority of them as well?

Which leads me to my biggest point. Again I say, what's the rush? Is Detroit trying to contend this year? Is SVG a lame duck? By overspending this summer, you're basically taking yourself out of the class for next summer. That's my biggest complaint. Next years class is significantly better than this years.

But Jodie Meeks at 6.3, Caron Butler at 4.5, DJ Augustin at 3, whatever Gray signed for. I'd say that's atleast 15M committed to guys that don't really move the needle as well as the salary you already have committed to Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings, and then the likely max offers to Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond. That's 66M, which I believe is the projected cap next season, and I didn't even count the cap holds for rookies, expiring players, and so on.
