Remember when Cliff Lee to the Yankees was suppose to be a slam dunk. Honestly don't remember what happened there other than the story about his wife getting spat on

To be honest, I don't care that we overpaid him. We had a good defensive team with a lot of sluggers, and a weakness in pitching. We traded for Kimbrel, and now lets get a stacked rotation

Let's get Ortiz another ring!!

Kimbrel move sucks, but this is a good one. Price has an opt-out after three too, which I imagine he'll do as long as he's still pitching like an ace. The contract seems fine.

Kimbrel move wasn't awful, dealt from a position of strength as Guerra and Margot are blocked by Betts and Bogaerts. Just could have got more value wise.

I love this signing. Price has proven he can pitch in the AL east, so definitely beats spending big bucks on him than Cueto or Greinke.

The Red Sox could have gotten more value, that's the point. Giving up assets for relievers is short sighted. You can get them anywhere.

that's a big if, though. i mean he's 30 and has a lot of mileage on his arm.

i guess it doesn't matter though since 200 mil is chump change for Boston.

I mean, if he doesn't opt out it's eventually going to be a drain on them, but that's the cost of business when you want to sign a top flight FA.

It's an excellent short term move. The Red Sox will be hard to beat next season.

I don't see Price opting out at 34 though.

Horrible contract.

I don't care what your payroll is, $31M per year is overpay. An absurd overpay.

Also Bryce will one day get $40M+ per year. Lock it up.

There's only a few players in the league who deserve to get paid 200mil

That per year value is a lot though. Overpay for someone pitching 32 games a year.

Idk, I just hate the direction this league is headed in terms of salaries.

The salaries reflect the profits. Can't expect salaries to remain the same or lower when these record TV deals keep coming in.

Well obviously, I'm just saying I hate that they keep going up by so much.

I guess when money is not a factor for some teams it isn't a big deal.
