They'll never dump fan voting, but it doesn't need to be ridiculous, there are ways to make it better.

What I'm saying is, if you are going to continue doing the fan vote, which is a sham, then the league needs to find a way to make it a little more equal. Figure out a way that votes from Memphis (which has less than 700,000 tv homes) count just as much as New York (which has more than 7.5 million tv homes). Or votes from New Orleans mean as much as votes from Los Angeles. That sort of thing.

its not that serious nola

There are casual fans voting everywhere no matter what
Changing it wont change landslide victories for PG or Blake or Dwight or Nate

Should the league should just ignore ways to make it better just because it isn't that serious?

Rookie-Sophomore game is even less serious, and they made changes to that. Skills challenges, etc etc etc. Just because something isn't that serious doesn't mean the league is just going to turn a blind eye.

It most definitely would. Maybe not drastically because I do think the fans actually do get it right most of the time (those guys are so popular for a reason), but the change in voting would make it a little more realistic. Kobe Bryant, wouldn't have been a starter this year for example, and it would have led to a more deserving player like Davis, Cousins, or Dragic getting in.

The casual fan from Memphis would look at the ballot, ask who the hell Goran Dragic is, and then vote Kobe after making a snide rape joke.

Steph Curry just beat out Chris Paul, who plays in Los Angeles.

Honestly, there's probably just as many if not more Laker fans outside of LA as there are (insert small market team here) fans. The idea is pointless.
