When Cuban bought the team on January 4th, the Mavs were 10-25, They finished 30-18 that season. Just missing the playoffs. He brought swagger to the team, he believed in them, and made the city believe in them, and really changed the basketball landscape in Dallas. EVer since he took over we've made the playoffs. He made an immediate impact. He made the transactions, he's made them a contender since the day he owned the team.

Prokhorov is a nothing, and will be nothing until he proves he can help build a relevant team. Cuban is probably one of the most influencial owners in sports history

Lmfao, you're getting all upset and talking mad <Censored> for no reason.

No one cares what Cuban did. Just because someone chooses to build their team a different way doesn't mean they don't care about the team. Prokhorov tried signing LeBron and other free agents, he tried getting Melo, etc. You can't say he isn't trying. He's probably going to build the team through the draft.

Mark Cuban has shown this passion for his team and gone out and made moves and it's gotten him absolutely nowhere as he hasn't won anything. Mark Cuban is just as much of a nobody as Prokhorov until he wins something and the Nets look to be in a better position than the Mavs assuming the Mavs don't win it all this season as they're younger, have their frontcourt set for a long time with two studs, have a good PG who's still pretty young and are likely looking at a pretty good draft pick again. They're going to be set up nicely for the future. Not going out and making moves that aren't going put them over the top anyway is exactly what Prok needs to be doing.

By your theory if you don't win a title your a nobody.

So Lebron is a nobody, John Stockton and Karl Malone are nobodies, Charles Barkley is a nobody.

Your not getting what I said. Mark Cuban, single handlily put Dallas on the basketball radar. We were nobodies.

It's funny if you call Cuban a nobody. Really it is. He's the most well known owner in NBA history

People know him because he's a douchebag who says stupid <Censored> for media attention, not because of his abilities as an owner. What makes him a better owner than Prok? Because he's owned a team for 10 years where as Prok hasn't even owned a team for 10 months? Small sample size is small.

The fact Prok hasn't turned his hellhole into a success. Call me whenever Prok has a title, then he can brag to Cuban, or if he has a 50 win season, which Cuban has 10 under his belt, headed for 11

I'm a mavs fan myself, Cuban needs to learn to shut his mouth. He's not there to talk $hit, that's the players jobs.

Be a freaking owner and shut the he11 up!

You guys just don't get it. This is what makes Cuban so amazing. Noone else would say this. There's a reason that the city of Dallas has supported this guy the past decade all the time.

I'd rather have an average fan owner who cares than some rich bum

I don't understand what your problem is with Prok, you act like he killed your parents or something lmao.

You're acting like it's his fault they're a bad team. They have pieces in place for the future and that's what they're building for. They're not built to win anything now and their isn't anyone out there available other than Melo that is going to turn them into a championship contender and they've already attempted that and it didn't work out. I don't understand what you want him to do. You act like because they're a bad team at the moment he's a bad owner. He has a good foundation in place and is going to have another really nice piece after this draft. You seem to think that the way Mark Cuban built a team through trades and big FA acquisitions is the only way to build a team. Sure, he did it quickly, but he still hasn't won anything so why does it matter that he turned the team into a contender faster than Prok will?

Cuban can talk trash, but I tell ya what I guarantee last year after telling Martins mom he's a punk that Martin was ready to whoop his ass. He's not really making the team what they are, he's really just making them the 20th century oakland raiders from back in the day.

You have killed the tiny shred of credibility you actually had here.

Nice job.

Proky hasn't even been here for a year.

I guess that intelligence is uncommon in the Midwest.

Did we not discuss how all of Cuban's teams have failed to win an NBA title?

The Mavs playoff record with Cuban is 49 wins and 57 losses, including their first trip to the NBA Finals in 2006, where they lost to the Miami Heat.
Fail.

One more thing:

Proky has a scrapped 12-win squad with an already small fanbase that’s disappointed with an impending move, two good players and a couple draft picks. There was no splash to make.

Cuban took over control of the Mavs in the middle of a 40-win season that already had Nowitzki, Nash and Finley on the roster with a veteran coach in Don Nelson. What Cuban inherited is worlds ahead of what the Nets were working with this summer.

Whenever Cuban took over, they were 10-25...they were not headed for a 40 win season until they won. Also, Cuban has proven he can build a legitimate contender year in and year out. Tell me when Prok has a relevant season.

OBviously, he hasn't had a year. I'll give him time. But he has a lot to do in order to do what Cuban has done for his franchise

It's good to see that Cuban has set a low standard for that franchise. He is clearly happy with just making the playoffs every year. Proky wants more than that and he has proven that he is willing to spend to make things happen.

It's nice to see that you're willing to give him time. As if your opinion of him means jack <Censored>.

Tell me when Prok has a relevant season.
Tell me when the Mavericks actually win an NBA championship. Oh wait, you'll never be able to do that.

I find it funny how you argue the Mavs are nothing cause they haven't won a championship, especially when the Nets are much, much, much farther behind the Mavs when it comes to winning a championship.

How many championships do both franchises have?

Cuban's model clearly hasn't worked, yet he is talking <Censored> for no reason.

Isnt the General Manager the one that builds up a team? Last time I checked the owners just write the checks for the most part. Unless your Jerry Jones.... I think if anything the Gm's should be getting the credit for building up a team. As far as both teams go, the Mavericks are currently one of the best teams in the league and the Nets are currently one of the worst teams in the league.

The Mavericks are closer to winning a championship than the Nets, but that doesnt mean either franchise is guaranteed to win or lose a title. Cuban has done a very good job changing that franchise around and investing a lot of money into the team to be competitive year in and year out. As for Prok, he just started this year so we need to wait and see what he does later on. He does have a big mouth for an owner, so lets see if he can back it up. If I recall, he said the Nets are going to win the title within 5 years, I believe.
