ESPN - Michael Crabtree is prepared to sit out this season and re-enter the NFL draft in 2010 if he can't get a fair market deal done with 49ers.

"We are prepared to do it," said David Wells, Crabtree's adviser and cousin. "Michael just wants fair-market value. They took him with the 10th pick and you have Darrius Heyward-Bey [the seventh overall pick by the Oakland Raiders] getting $38 million? This week is crucial. Michael was one of the best players in the draft and he just wants to be paid like one of the best players. This week is very crucial."

Wells said he believes the 49ers have made an offer but that it is not acceptable.
WOW. That would be a HUGE L for the 49ers.

I would laugh if he does sit out, enters next years draft and gets selected by the 49ers again but this time in the 7th round but the owners would never band together to make this happen. Lord how much money would that boy lose then? :butwiggle:

Im sure they'll reach a deal, they're just trying to scare the 9ers into giving them the contract he wants lol

In the end they wont want to lose their 1st round pick and will pay him the money he wants of they dont compromise by then.

Negotiations are always just a game of chicken, but right now the 49ers are on the losing end right now

If this happens the NFL needs to ASAP introduce the rookie salary thing like the NBA has. Same with MLB. MLB and NFL agents are the biggest <Censored>es in the world

I agree

Rookies are getting too much invested in them and it should stop until they accomplish something

I agree, and I think this could lead to that.. well it should anyways. And how Starusberg might not sign with the Nats in the MLB is pretty bad too.

This guy is a dang joker. Wow, I knew he had the hot shot attitude but to make threats like this just to get money... seriously, shut up Crabtree and prove you can play ball.

He's shooting himself in the foot. IF he does hold out, then the NFL would be forced to implement a Rookie Salary Cap for next years draft, and Crabtree would get wayy less money then now. Really, who's compaining when they can get a 30+ million contract?

Thats a whole different story. Strasburg doesn't want to play for the Natinals(LMAO) because they're the NATINALS (LMAO). He wouldn't have a good career in Washington IMO because he'd get no run support. It'd be like a low confidence Zach Greinke situation. The Nats are throwing hella cash at him and he still won't sign...

This clown is literally trying to negotiate his contract based off of mock drafts.

I think Crabtree would do just fine next year, maybe it isn't all about the money maybe he is hiding that ankle or leg injury he had, maybe he knows he would fail a physical.

honestly i hate these <Censored>ing rookies that demand a massive contract before they have done anything in the nfl to deserve it. if they dont sign they should just not be allowed back in the draft and screwed for a year. do they really have to be that greedy. its not like he will be poor by taking what they offer him. these rookies need a slap to the face to wake them up. hes starting to tarnish his career in a way before it begins.

i still stand by the belief that the nfl needs a rookie salary cap. the contracts these guys get is ridiculous. you could get an established veteran for less and veterans get ripped off.
