Like y'all said, obviously nothing will happen to the players, but I think there's real steam everywhere else.

The documents tie some of the biggest names and programs in the sport to activity that appears to violate the NCAAs amateurism rules. This could end up casting a pall over the NCAA tournament because of eligibility issues. Theres potential impermissible benefits and preferential treatment for players and families of players at Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, USC, Alabama and a host of other schools. The documents link some of the sports biggest current stars Michigan States Miles Bridges, Alabamas Collin Sexton and Dukes Wendell Carter to specific potential extra benefits for either the athletes or their family members. The amounts tied to players in the case range from basic meals to tens of thousands of dollars.

All the players in trouble for just a meal will get a slap on the wrist and probably pay the money back to charity.

The bigger ones will see their universities face allegations. But this is definitely underwhelming.
Nothing is gonna happen to the players, some might lose some eligibility but that’s it

Thats what Im saying. The way Nola set this up was that a ton of teams were going to get knocked out of this years tournament

NCAA will let the FBI conduct their investigation the decide to vacate some wins, I doubt they do much from this. They’d lose too much money by suspending a bunch of teams

Id be surprised if Duke/UNC/ a few others had to vacate anything for less than 200. Theres something in the bylaws saying they can repay the money or something.

Can the schools repay it or does it have to be the athletes? And in the article above the schools didn’t do anything wrong, the players took loans from agents, there’s nothing to prove they took money from the schools (even though they probably did)

Now DeAndre Ayton has apparently been caught for a 100K payment and the coach has been caught talking about it. Now THATS noteworthy

Why is the FBI even involved in this?

It’s wondering the same thing, I think it has to do with agents bribing players, I don’t think there’s anything illegal about the school paying the kids though
