In the latest details available to Yahoo! Sports, sources say that New Orleans would send the Lakers Paul, and possibly two Hornets free agents – center Jason Smith and Marcus Banks – would be sent to the Lakers in sign-and-trade agreements.

The Rockets would send Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, a 2012 first-round pick and possibly young players or additional picks to the Hornets.

The Lakers would send Lamar Odom to the Hornets, Pau Gasol to the Rockets and league sources say that Los Angeles was pursuing a first-round pick to send to the Hornets.

“It’s in David Stern’s hands now,” one source said. “He’ll decide on the trade.”

So the Lakers add two back ups to their team, that's the new deal?

Dan Gilbet's point was the Lakers were receiving the best player in the deal, saving money, and keeping their best trade asset. I don't see how the Rockets adding a pick is going to change that opinion.

Also, on the Dan Gilbert thing, he wasn't the only owner who had a problem with the trade.. He just had his email leak, even though the deal was shot down before he sent it. But the damage has been done in terms of PR..

I don't need to read some article by some guy I don't know for him to defend the Hornets trading for a bunch of role players.

Martin = role player
Scola = role player

Really cheato? There's been enough "sources" saying a number of GM's love the deal for the Hornets. I asked this the other day, but if the Hornets had a better deal don't you think they would have taken it?

I don't think they had a better deal to get pure talent, regardless of age, but I'm sure they had a deal where they got a lot more young talent and draft picks.

And yes, those two are role players. I wouldn't even want Kevin Martin on my team.

Odom is a good 6th man. He isnt that good of a starter.

Here is my main issue.

Here are PER 36 stats from last year for 2 of the guys involved in this deal.

18.3 PPG, 9.9 RPG

20.2 PPG, 9.0 RPG

The 1st guy is Pau Gasol. The 2nd is Luis Scola.

It can be argued that Scola was just as good, if not better than Pau last year.

So if Houston only gets Gasol, what justifies giving up Dragic, Martin, and a 1st rounder, and possibly more?

The Lakers dont give up enough in this deal, and Houston doesnt get nearly enough for this to be a fair 3 team deal
