Sources: Chris Bosh to meet with doctors to determine seriousness of blood clots
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical By Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical

Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh is expected to meet with doctors on Thursday to determine the seriousness of blood clotting in his left calf and whether the use of blood thinners could allow him to return this season, league sources told The Vertical.

Bosh, an 11-time All-Star, met with Heat physicians on Monday in Miami and will get further evaluation on Thursday, sources said. There was more optimism in Miami on Monday than during All-Star weekend in Toronto that Bosh's condition could be manageable, league sources said.
Nevertheless, there are still determinations to be made on Bosh's condition and immediate future on Thursday.
Bosh pulled out of the All-Star Game and 3-point contest on Friday because of the concerns of a potential blood clot. There was initially some apprehension about Bosh flying back to South Florida, but he did so without a physical problem.
Bosh missed the final 30 games a season ago after a blood clot in his calf moved to his lungs. He took blood thinners for several months following the 2015 clotting.
Bosh, 31, is averaging 19.1 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Heat.
The Miami Herald first reported Bosh had a blood clot scare.

Not really a surprise there as he's currently on blood thinners and playing a contact sport on thinners is dangerous. The only thing in question right now is if there's any chance he might hang 'em up for good.

• There is growing optimism about Chris Bosh being cleared by the Heat to resume his career while remaining on blood thinners, according to a union source.
Bosh pitched the Heat on playing late last season, while taking a new form of blood thinner that would be out of his system in eight hours or so. The Heat resisted that approach at that time but is now more open than it had been to Bosh playing while on blood thinners, according to the source.
Bosh wouldn’t be the first athlete to do that: Former Florida Panthers player Tomas Fleischmann takes anticoagulant injections after games that are out of his system by game time.
Whether Bosh would be able to play in every game, such as the second set of back-to-backs, remains to be seen.
But barring a setback in the next few weeks, it would be surprising if Bosh isn’t cleared to play.
That would mean a Heat starting lineup of Bosh, Hassan Whiteside, Justise Winslow, Goran Dragic and likely Dion Waiters.
• Erik Spoelstra wants this team to run: “When you’re pushing the tempo and attacking, that’s a fun style…. It will only make sense for us to maximize Goran’s strengths, Hassan’s strengths, Justise Winslow’s strengths. Their strengths are their speed, their athleticism.. Young players gravitate to Goran. They want to play that style.”

Hard to play him when he could die on the court in your jersey. Not a good look.

I've said it for a while now. His life has been in jeopardy so there is no reason for him to play again. What happened to reggie lewis was incredibly tragic but could have been prevented. Dude had a heart attack on the court and survived, but he died during the next practice

You don't take precautions on this. Bosh's career needs to be over. Go into the HOF with Pierce

We've all had to give up on something because of something that was completely out of our control, but it has not been the career that we loved. I hope Chris doesn't play again barring medical advancements that make it more feasible and less likely they something bad happens, but I also want him to take as much time as he needs to to process this horrible thing that has happened to him. All we can do is be empathetic and hope nothing bad happens should he somehow find a way back onto the court.
