Probably so yes, but he liked playing here and told friends he would like to come back is what I'm saying.

Mets fans 100% believe the Wilpons are cheap bastards, so we don't expect them to offer nearly enough to keep him in NY. Plus he would block Conforto next year. Pretty obvious he's a rental.

Is Conforto a real person or is that some nickname for Bartolo Colon?

I know its wishful thinking but I hope he resigns, which he wont. Especially with paying Cuddyer and Granderson, then having Lagares in center. And Conforto waiting in the wings, thats a crowded OF.

It's impossible for y'all to keep him unless you get an extension worked out because of some clause in his contract. You don't get a draft pick when he signs somewhere else either.

The clause is basically that we can't make a Qualifying Offer.

The Mets will retain exclusive negotiating rights for the first five days following the conclusion of the 2015 World Series. After that, they can't negotiate with Cespedes until May 15, 2016.

That blows. No chance he stays here.

How exactly do you get that worked into a contract?

Those are some of the weirdest contract stipulations that I have ever seen. His agent definitely made sure it was in Cespedes' favor to easily become a free agent. Im guessing it has to do with being a Cuban ballplayer and not being drafted.

Evidently he switched agents like a year ago. Idk why, the previous guy was a goddamn genius.
