Speaking of teams that should have moved on from their coaching staff--Carolina is at the top of that list. Rivera is a joke, and Shula might be the worst OC in the league. Carolina had no OL last year and yet he repeatedly put Cam in deep drops where he needed protection that he just didn't get. Dude could have been hurt badly.

I just happen to think that the sum of their parts is still better than the rest of the division sans Atlanta.

Carolina's OL somehow got worse, Michael Oher, Andrew Norwell, Ryan Kalil, Trai Turner, and Mike Remmers. Their best player, Kalil, isn't even healthy. They have Jonathan Stewart in the backfield, but will he stay healthy? They have a Fozzy Whittaker behind him.

They also don't have any receivers, Ted Ginn and Corey Brown will be starting. I think that defense will still be good, but they're going to have to really show up because I don't know how good that offense will be.

Ceiling(12-4) - I could see this team building on last season and keep things rolling. Yes we know about the subtractions, including the big one in Suh, but I believe that Ngata is similar to Suh, just some more years under his belt, but he knows what he is doing and has been good at it for awhile. Stephen Tulloch being back is a big lift for this defense as well. With Tulloch and Levy in there, those two are tackling machines, and when Tulloch went down, and to still have one of the best defenses shows a lot. It also helps to have a great defensive minded coach in Teryl Austin running that side of the ball, with him in control, he will find the best out of these players. The offense lost Reggie Bush, but gained a similar and possibly better version in Ameer Abdullah in the draft. Megatron is looking healthy, and it sounds like Ebron has made strides. This looks to be a Lions team with the most depth than I can remember.

Floor(6-10) - Ameer Abdullah could take longer to adjust to the NFL than expected, you don't know with rookies really. The safeties and cornerbacks played exceptionally well for themselves and could regress with Mathis another year older, and it being difficult to repeat a year like Glover Quinn had. The lineman rotation struggles and teams are able to focus more on Ngata, effectively shutting him down. Ebron doesn't progress and has another non-productive year. The offensive line struggles to keep defenses from getting to Stafford again, and can't keep holes open for the run game.

Prediction(11-5) - I'm more towards the ceiling and I see strides being made instead of steps going backwards, like we have in the past.

This team is such an enigma. I don't think there's middle ground for Detroit. They'll either be a top team in the league or a disaster. FTR, I really like that they kept Zenner. Dude is an absolute beast and his college days prove that he's durable.

He won't see the field though. I like him however.

Ngata and Suh are not similar in any way from an X's and O's perspective.

Joique Bell is injury prone. My guess is Zenner sees carries by week 6 or 7. Neither Abdullah or Riddick are atypical short yardage bruisers.

fuck it, my giants are going 5-11 this year. That defense is terrible and the O-line is a mix and match of guys playing out of position.
