anyways, in regards to this, this would be unprecedented right? i cant think of a superstar who left, and went back still in his prime to finish business. maybe im forgetting someone really obvious.(not MJ because he never left the Bulls for another NBA team while winning a title)

anyone know? doesnt have to be a megastar, but a really good player at least. more than just a role player

I could totally see this happening because of that. unprecedented.

Does Steve Nash count?

Kenny Lofton did it, but that's MLB. Indians traded him in '97 for Marquis Grissom and David Justice, and he signed back with the Tribe in '98 lol

Nash wasn't anything in Phoenix because he never got a chance to be because they had KJ/J-Kidd/etc.

I really want to see this. Not just because it would be awesome to see such a small market be a powerhouse again, but because he'd finally have the teammates he deserved in the first place.

Also, I don't like it when fair weather fan cities win titles. Miami can take a flying leap before winning another. Florida fans in general are pathetic unless it's college football, it seems.

With the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement making it difficult for team to have three max contract players, the 2014 decision awaiting LeBron James has become more interesting.

Over the past few months, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies have traded away James Harden and Rudy Gay, respectively, as they avoid the luxury tax.

James' agent, Rich Paul, has been privately telling people for two years that he is interested in bringing his client back to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Paul's agency, Klutch Sports, is based in Cleveland.

"Riley has never given them the run of the place in Miami," one high-level associate of James' inner-circle said, "and they could all be back in business together in Cleveland. For Rich and [business manager] Maverick [Carter], they all see the benefits of getting the credit for bringing LeBron home again."

Dwyane Wade is entering his thirties, while Kyrie Irving may be the NBA's best point guard in his prime in 2014.

James has been contemplating a return to Cleveland throughout his tenure with the Heat, even second-guessing himself the night of decision. When owner Dan Gilbert released his infamous letter, James understood that there was no turning back, according to the report.

Using two small market teams as examples as to why NBA teams won't continue trying to have three max guys makes minimal sense.

smh, this isn't baseball. Small or large markets mean nothing to an NBA Franchise. They have a salary cap at around $60M for next year I read, and LBJ at $17.8 I saw on another site "is the most underpayed athlete out there" (which is bs but still).

In two years he can sign with the kid who will dominate the decade of 2010-2020. He will probably win titles there, in Cleveland. He will be forgiven by America for the Decision, for the most part.

Or he can stay with the defense-less, aging Heat team.

It makes perfect sense. Compete two more years, and go to Cleveland.

Small market teams can't afford to pay the luxury tax, large market teams can, and that is the difference

Miami isn't a large market really though

It's a favorable market to play for, but it's not really a large market

I'd consider Miami a large market. If it wasn't before it surely is now.
